I bought my v3 razr two years ago. It sat all last year but I would turn it on from time to time to view pictures and store new numbers. So I got the service turned back on 2 weeks ago and ever since that day its done the white screen ****. At first I could open and close it and get it back for awhile. It progressively worsens and now it wont go away at all. I payed over 300 for that phone and im pissed! Do not buy or use motorola products, these things **** and they dont have the decency to do a recall and fix or stand behind their product that clearly is defective by the manufacturer after seeing the thousands of posts all over the internet about it. Garbage, I will not buy their products ever again unless they stand up and fix all these un green pieces that will find their way to the land fills due to this white screen.

  • geoffderks Nov 10, 2008

Same problem. There was no dropping of the phone. The first time it happened, I saw the time bar on the inside screen. To stop it, I took out the battery and put it back in. When turning it on again, it did the same thing. Even when charging the phone, it flashed the white screen. Argh! I've only had the phone for 10 months.

If you smash the phone with a hammer and then submerge it in a bucket of acid, the white screen will be gone

I had this problem for a month now, but I searched the internet for a solution just now and waaaala fixed.

I did the battery thing (Remove the battery and clean it with a soft cloth, no metal!!!!!!!!!)
This is a temporary fix in most cases, usually gave me 15 mins b4 death screen again.

Slamming it also worked, but im pretty sure that is not a good solution.

My phone was on when i tried this so..

to reboot your razor hold the *, #, and power key (red button) until it shuts off.
I wasnt sure if it worked so i did the same thing while it was off to turn it back on, it came up with the motorola boot screen which was 100% visible!

Now it works, but the ultimate solution to this problem is to not get this phone to begin with.

Turn the phone off, fold it so that it is close. Gently tap it face down in your hand almost like a pack of ciggarettes. That might not fix the outter screen, but the larger internal display will work fine..

I did the reboot thing that was mentioned towards the top of the thread. Wether it worked or not i wont know (unless it never happens again), but it did seem to bring the phone back to its original screen, but the againso does taking out the battery enough times. (by the way , solution number 4 is great XP)

It sounds like it's overheating, make sure the airways are clear of dust and listen for the sound of the fan inside, this could have failed..
if the processor overheats it automatically cuts out and what you describe is exactly that..

My compaq 6720s has the white screen of death i turn it on and can hear the windows loading - but just see a white screen

It seems that either your LCD screen is damaged,
or the data cable between the motherboard and the LCD is damaged,
or the video-card is malfunctioning.

Connect an external monitor to the VGA or DVI port on your laptop, to see if the usual "start-up" stuff can be displayed on that external screen. If so, then Windows *IS* starting "normally".

Take your laptop to a qualified technician, for proper trouble-shooting.

White screen of death?

Hello

The white screen of death is a flex problem.

The flex of a phone is what connects the screen to the board of the phone. it is found in most flip and slide phones.

When you flip and slide these type of phones after a while the flex gets weak and that causes the white screen you see.

The only solution is to have your flex changed, that will definitely solve the problem..

Goodluck

White screen

Blue and whit screens of death. these are hated as if it is the video card you will need it replaced. if it is the screen then replace it . to find out try it on an external monitor. if it is still white, you're laptop is toast! the internal graphics card is fryed and cannot be removed. either get it fixed or buy a new one.

do not attempt to fix it your self it will only be worse.
