To help you, we need much more detail. e.g. Are you sure you have power on the receptacle? Sometimes if you have a power strip with multiple things plugged in, some have a circuit breaker that will operate until you reset it. What happens when you press the Power Button? Do any lights come on or does the fan run? Another way for a computer to shut down on its own is if it overheats, but it will usually start up again after it cools down. This may seem like a simple tip, it is, however it can cause many unneeded problems to your computer if you do not shut it down properly. Do Not shut down your computer by pressing the power button. Whether you have a PC or a laptop, don't use the button. When you go to shut your computer down go to start and shut down and it will shut off. If you do not do this correctly it doesn;t give your computer the proper amount of time to shut down, you can corrupt your Windows files and eventually have problems even booting your computer up. Simple solution that will avoid future problems! Hope this helps!

Try going to your power option in the control panel. Make sure that hibernate is disabled, change what power buttons do. Make sure when you press power button it is set to shut down. Choose when computer sleeps as never.

if computer shuts down in like a second or two, you might have a problem with the power supply unit, or the power cord that goes to the computer is loose in the tower or on the wall socket.
if the computer shuts down normally i.e. windows displaying "windows is shutting down" massage that you would get when you normally shut down pc...then you might wanna check your power plan option from the control panel. disable any hibernation/shut down options. go to control panel, go to power option, go to edit this power option.. you should see if you have selected to shut down the computer after a given time...select this to never and it may solve the problem.
If you are turning off your computer by pressing the front panel power button, it is probably just putting Windows to sleep but not shutting the computer off. If your computer has Windows Vista, the default is to hibernate and not shut down even if you shut down through Vista. The "power save" message you see is coming from the monitor, which is letting you know it isn't getting a signal from the computer anymore but the power is still on. Windows will start up again from sleep mode if someone or something moves the mouse or presses a key.
The solution is to make sure the computer is actually shut down. In Vista you can do this by clicking the arrow near the power icon on the Start menu. This gives you the option of shutting down instead of hibernating. In XP, shut the computer down using the start menu shutdown option instead of the computer power button. Then the power will shut down completely.
