Are you enabling the external display feature? The HDMI must be enabled from the laptop keyboard before it will output. This is done with the "Fn" Key (lower left next to Windows key + the F5 key. This is a 3-way toggle. The default is normal screen. First toggle switches to external (HDMI), second toggle to both screens, and the third back to normal.

Disassemble procedure to many popular brand TVs and other devices are given in detail with illustrations.
Hello... I searched the internet and found this. I hope this helps...
To resolve the "HDCP unauthorized. Content disabled" issue, try these steps:
If you are trying to stream 4K Ultra HD content when you see the purple screen, review the instructions for setting up your Roku player for 4K. Go to the next step if you continue to see a purple screen.
On both your Roku player and your TV or AVR, unplug each end of the HDMI cable.
Power off your TV and your Roku player and unplug their respective power supplies.
Reconnect both ends of the HDMI cable, pushing them firmly, all the way in.
Reconnect your TV and your Roku player to their power supplies and power them on.
Try viewing the video again.
If the above did not resolve your issue, try these additional suggestions:
Try a different HDMI input on your TV.
Try using a different HDMI cable (less than 6 feet if available), just to make sure the cable you are currently using does not have any defects.
If you are using an HDMI switch or AVR, try connecting the Roku player directly to the TV.
Try another TV, if possible.
If you are using a computer monitor, try using a TV, if possible.
Try using different Display Settings on your Roku player. You can find these settings under Settings >Display type.
If this is the first time you are seeing this HDCP purple screen after setting up your Roku player, ensure that your TV and/or AVR supports HDCP. Contact your equipment manufacturer for more information.
1. Check the computer for changing output (some computers use <F5>, <F8>, depending on which brand they are. I believe Sony uses <Function><F7> or <F7>). 2. Check what channel the HDMI port is on (e.g. AV1, HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.) - you need to know this if your TV doesn't automatically switch to the new input. 3. Plug the HDMI cable into the TV HDMI cable-in port. 4. Plug the HDMI cable into the laptop HDMI cable-out port.
5. Turn on the computer. 6. Press the <Function><F7> simultaneously ONCE. The screen should flicker and show up on TV. 7. Sometimes you may have to go to "Display Preferences" and select Dual Monitors or external monitor if your computer doesn't do it automatically. Repeat Step 6 after.
** You may have to adjust Display Resolution to 1024 x 768 or lower in order for the TV to work. After it works at a lower display (800 x 600, for example), you can adjust the resolution to the maximum the TV can accept.
