Question about E-Mu 1616M Sound Card
I just got a used EMU 1616 cardbus card for my laptop. The card is connected via an Express Card adapter.
The card installs and plays windows sounds just fine, but when I play a media file for 10 sec to 5 minutes the sound suddenly freezes in a constant tone, untill I close the media player down (Winamp and Windows Media Player) After that the card won't play untill I unplug it and plug it in again or restart the computer.
The adapter has been tested positive with this card.
I have tried the card on an old laptop running Windows XP SP3 without problems.
Please please please help me! Thanks!
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

First up, I am no expert, but hope I can help.
I think that it is just a matter of following the installation procedures which EMU describe in the booklet.
When you insert the card for the first time, do not install using the hardware wizard.
Instead exit out of it and insert the cd, which will run a seperate install procedure (if autorun is enabled).
During the installation, a splashscreen will pop up (at around 45% complete) saying that the driver is not signed. Choose 'continue anyway'.
This should take care of the digital signature issue.
After this, there might be a problem with the cardbus controller.
This is highlighted on the EMU website.
Thats the problem which I am struggling with and hope someone can help out ..

I have experienced this problem too. I have traced it to my Webroot Firewall. During normal operation a firewall warning appeared and asked me to either accept and deny a particular process. If I am not sure about the process I usually deny it. Well, it turns out that a process I denied ended up producing the problem you have. I am not saying that this is your problem but you might try to completely exit your firewall and anti-virus software and see if the sound card returns to normal.

Nothing is wrong with sound card.
The Problem may be...
1. Media Player
Solution: Try playing with different media player.
Solution: Scan you HDD with antivirus software.
If that doesn't work then...
3. in OS / System
Solution: Backup your data, format your HDD, and reinstall you OS.
Please Rate if you find the above info useful.
