Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
My PS3 worked for the last 2 years, but recently it will freeze in the middle of gameplay with PS3 games only. PS2 games and regular DVDs work just fine.
I recommend looking for system update download or cd. I believe this is a firmware problem and the system needs updated. It is actually a fairly common problems for these systems.
You can also clean ps3 glass laser eye with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. I also recommend doing this to your discs.
If problem persists, it will need an update.

The first thing that i suggest is to turn off the information bar in the top right hand corner of the main PS3 menu so that if you are not online the information bar would just keep on looking for the connections and ultimately slowing down your entire system. If this did not turn up then the next thing, which is to be done is to reset the PS3 and try duplicating the same task, which you were performing in the game menu actions, this can definitely exempt you from the PS3 freezing up. The next suggested remedy regarding freezing up of PS3 is to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cord or other related cords.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
