Dishwasher time E4

Time indicates E4 dishwasher will not proceed to cycle

Hi - we're having this problem too - we're on our second Stoves 450DW dishwasher in a matter of weeks. We just went to turn it on and the display reads "E4", beeps about 10 times, and there seems to be no way to get past this, rendering the dishwasher useless. Did you resolve this issue? The manual is useless - no mention of error messages at all and nothing of any help in the troubleshooting section. This problem happened with the first one we had - Stoves didn't seem to know what was wrong and then replaced the dishwasher completely. The fact that it has happened again, and that I can't find much trace of this problem occuring with other owners on the web, seems to indicate there is some problem that the dishwasher is trying to tell us about. Can you or anyone help??

Actually, I wanted to update this thread - I totally forgot about it until Vincent13 posted - but in fact we resolved it - the dishwashers adjustable legs weren't even - if the dishwasher isn't in effect perfectly flat then this message (E4) displays. Correcting the legs to steady the machine and make it parallel with the floor meant we have not had the same problem since. Thanks!

Dishwasher is beeping and showing code E4

There really isn't a standard for dishwasher error codes. Need to know the manufacturer and model number to proceed. This could be a fault with the float in the fill or overflow sensing that there's too much water. You might try removing the water and letting the machine dry out. Could be too much suds from combo cheap detergent and rinse agent.

I have e4 showing

E4 error indicate an abnormal water level which means too much inlet water (E5 also is refer at this fault).

I quote other comments/solution about this same error:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had the e4 error code and i took the outer panel off and inside behind the power button is a grey reservoir tank which measures the water that goes inside the dishwasher which actually got bunged up with **** and grease causing the floaty thing to get jammed and cause the e4 code to come on which means abnormal water level the top to the reservoir just unclips on both sides then just clean all the gooey stuff out and put it back together it worked for me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck.

Hobart commercial under the counter diswasher LXIC Model Number 130016. DELIME light comes on every day at startup. Machine will immediatly run (in DELIME mode I think) for about 5-10 min and then get E4...

The machine is trying to tell you to delime it. After a certain number of wash cycles, the LXI dishwasher reminds you to run a delime cycle (instructions are on a label on the bottom of the dishwasher). Judging from your posting, it's been ignored for quite some time, so you may need to run multiple delime cycles, depending on how much scale is built up inside the machine on the probes, wash arms, rinse arms, drain body (though you can't see this part, heavy scale deposits will cause draining problems). So . . . . get some good strong delimer and run a few delime cycles (talk to your chemical supplier about delimer - don't buy some weak stuff like LIME-A-WAY off the shelf).

Once you've delimed the machine, your E4 code may go away. E4 is the dishwasher's way of telling you that it did not fill properly on the initial fill (when you first turn on the machine). More specifically, it means the dishwasher DID NOT SENSE WATER at the upper probe at the rear right of the tank (there are two probes back there, on one assembly, referred to as the MIDDLE and UPPER water level probes). The probe may be coated with lime causing difficulty sensing water at the probe, so a good deliming may clean the probe and fix the E4 problem (in fact, reach back to the probes and break off any heavy built-up lime/scale deposits before deliming). If the E4 code persists after deliming, watch the pressure gauge on the front of the dishwasher. If the gauge reads lower than the green area, you need to adjust or replace the water pressure regulator. If the E4 problem still persists, replace the probe assembly at the rear of the dishwasher.

Sounds as though the drain is blocked partially. E4 is the overfill code. Try cleaning out the drain.

Kenwood Slimline Dishwasher KDW8ST2A

I have a Kenwood Kdw8st2a and have been constantly plagued by the E4 overfill error.

Lifting the front of the dishwasher and tilting it backwards seemed to clear the E4 error only for it to come back after the next wash.

I found eventually that the connection to the U bend under the sink was too narrow and was almost blocked hence the dishwasher was not emptying properly.

I disconnected the dishwasher waste pipe and ran the waste into a bucket for about 6 cycles and it worked fine.

Eventually drilled through the kitchen wall and fitted a lower direct waste pipe to the drain. Overkill maybe buit it hasn't done an E4 since.

E4 means that water is not discharging properly, check the hose, filters etc

The E4 code means - Overfilled. To much inlet water. Remove water manually from the tank pan and try operating a new cleaning cycle. Good luck !
