Open Question

How to reload Black & Decker 3000E staple gun.

We have an old Black & Decker 3000E staple gun. We found some staples along with it, and need to reload it, but can't figure out how. Is there a manual someplace for the 3000E? We've figured out how to open up the part where the staples go, but then they slide right out the back end of the contraption when we close it. We don't understand what the other operating parts are for either (for example, the black plastic screw knob on top). Thanks!

this is not as helpful as i would like to be... if you live near a hardware store take it in there and they will be able to show you. if they still sell them make sure the customer service people know that you had the stapler before entering the store.

SOURCE: Staple Gun Troubleshooting

Most of the staple gun models lack an "anvil" — the metal plate with curved slots that office staplers use to bend the legs of the staple inwards and flattens them against the paper. Staples set with a staple gun retain their straight legs, and are held in place only by static friction of the legs against the compressed surrounding material, much like common nails. Indeed, some staple gun models can handle brads and nails as well as staples. Some staple guns also use divergent point staples where the legs twist as the staple drives into the surface providing superior holding power.

I own a Power Sot and the directions are very clear. Squeeze the clip at the back of the unit and pull the spring-loaded clip out. Put your staples in and GO!!

The staples do not go on the bar you pull back but directly into the bottom once you have pulled the bar back. I was trying to put the staples on the bar at the back and push them into the stapler.

SOURCE: LOAD IT

pull out the spring at the end of the gun. turn the staple gun upside down. Lay the staples in the track pointed side up, push in the spring slide so that it locks. You are ready to staple.

What staples does a black and decker electric stapler 9700 take and where can I buy them?

Hi Stephen,
Of course the manual states to use their staples for best results.
However it does at least state it is designed for a wide variety.
Most hardware stores have a range of staples to choose from.
Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Lowes etc. Try a chisel point this may help penetrate the wood deep enough. All staples are not made the same. So again trial and error may be the quickest route. Fortunately you can purchase small boxes for your testing.
The manual for this stapler is here:
(Page 2 talks about the staples to use.)

Good luck and hope this helps!

How do you load staples into the Power Shot Model 5700M staple and nail gun? There is no manual in the package despite direction on the side of the gun to read it!

I have owned a Black & Decker Powershot before. Throw it away. They are **** . Stick with a Arrow or Craftsman. I didn't like the Black & Decker and gave it to a friend that was looking for a staple gun. He threw it away ! Worst excuse for a staple gun I've ever seen. Awkward to use and preforms on a scale of 1 to 10 , doesn't even hit 1 !

What size staples does the B&G Powershot staple gun use? I bought a refill pack 3/8" & 5/16" long. They fit but the shank when pulled out and loaded with staples won't close. Thank you. Julia Carr

Hi Julia,

You have the right size staples. The problem is the length of the refills. Some staplers can't accommodate a full length clip.

Break the staple refill clip in half, then insert it. The shank will be able to close and latch that way.

Best regards
Mike
