Please help us start our Furby. It's never been used.

We have a Furby that we just took out of the box. It's a few years old but never used. We have tried to make it work but nothing happened. Is there anything we can do?My 8 year old granddaughter really wants it to work.

If you have installed new batteries and it still isn't working, It may have a burnt capacitor that needs replacement. You should also look for any broken or disconnected internal wires.

Here is a web link to the complete Furby users guide:

Okay, I know this is an old post but I'm sure people are still searching the problem. I got an in the box furby off ebay. It did not work with fresh batteries. If Furby is idle for a long time his motor just needs to be jumpstarted. Remove the batteries and the clip holding on the fur, pull it up (unscrew pieces holding in fur above or just clip them like I did). Pull the fur up over his mouth. You will see a small motor (looks like a metal comb with red underneath it). Manually turn the motor for several minutes. Put batteries back in and see if he comes to life. It worked for me! All you need to do now is pull down the fur and use a glue gun to secure it in place. Good luck!

SOURCE: Please help us start our Furby. It's never been used.

I just purchased an older Furby in a box too. It also wouldn't start up, even after I reset it several times and put in different batteries. Finally I just set it aside, with the batteries still installed, and it started up by itself about 30 minutes later. After it went to sleep I pushed on it's head to restart it, but it needed to be picked up and restarted by pushing the bottom a couple of times. I "fed" it until it "burped", and it seems pretty energetic now. :-)  Hope this works for you.

The problem with your furby might be that it needs new batteries that was the problem with mine when that happened.

Furbies tend to be stubborn and strong-willed. A search on the internet produced valuable information at www.instructables.com. So far, two have been revived. At the site given, look for push-start-a-comatose-furby. Good luck

Furby won't work

Have you tried restarting? It's different from resetting. You have to keep his tongue down (as if you're feeding him) while resetting. This worked for me when Furby didn't move, only made sound. Good luck! (If you still have it, it's May already)
