Question about Dell 3100cn Laser Printer

1 Answer

My Dell 3100cn prints dark on one side of the paper. The "roller" that the ink "dust" sits on is only collecting "dust" on one side. Can you tell me how to fix this?

I have done all of that and it still doesn't work. Its almost like the roller magnetically pulls the toner "dust" to one side of the roller.....should i replace the roller that the toner dust sits on??

Take the toner out and shake it. even distribution is require for the print to come out even. if that doesn't work then it is time to get a new toner.
clen the roller and the heating element. make sure the heater element is cool.

    the toner may be leaking.

I would change the roller and the toner at the same time.

Hi! My name is Roy Napier and I have couple of problems for which I would like your advice. 1. On some occasions my print-out has faint extra "ghost" copies of the text etc printed plus the colours seem to...

My first suggestion to you is to remove, clean, shake, and reinsert the ink cartridges, then allow the printer to self align. Follow your manufacturer's recommendations for removal and insertion of the cartridges.

The dragging of colour that you mention is most likely attributed to the rollers which feed the paper. If one is dirty, it will affect the paper's print quality. The way that I suggest to fix the problem with dirty rollers is to obtain a long, continuous piece of brown paper towel (utility towels, like you find in factories) and insert the end of the paper into the multi-purpose feed, then feed it into the printer for a few seconds.

Once the paper towel has fed into the printer, extract the paper manually by pulling on it in the opposite direction of feed. Repeat this process a few times and the rollers will be clean, and the color scrubbing problem should cease.

Drum kits marking up and streaking the paper

You can check with Dell to see if there is a maintenance kit for this printer. I know that there is one for the HP counterpart. You will probably need to replace the fuser, and maybe the pickups and rollers, but as I said I am not sure if Dell has a maintenance kit for these machines.

3100cn not printing

with the access door for the paper open, slide the paper in, try to print. If the feed roller turns but does not pick up paper then the feed roller is worn beyond use and must be replaced.

The print toner cartridge has a small trap door that opens to let the toner adhere to the paper. Remove the toner cartridge and locate this moveable panel on it. This roller is VERY sensitive, and can scratch VERY easy. Use a soft LINT FREE cloth to GENTLY wipe the colored roller if you see any toner build up. If that does not clear up the problem you will need to replace your Fuser Unit which will need to be ordered from Dell or a 3rd party supplier. Its a pretty easy process, and instructions usually come with the fusers. If you have a printer warranty they will fix it for you. Thanks! //CowboysfanZ
