Question about Lexmark X7170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Installed a refilled black 34 cartridge on a X7170 all in one printer. message says " incorrect cartridge" ERROR 2200. Thank you for help.

    This may be due to damage/dried ink on the circuit borad of the cartridge or in the carrier. Have you tried installing a different cartridge to see if it works?

Try one of these things it fixes it some of the time.

I don't know where you got yours refilled, I use PrintPal. (www.printpal.com/card15) I have yet to have one go bad on me. Look for whats called a jet pack mailer. You send them empties and they send you refills. You have to buy the shipping containers then process them. Its worth it!!!
Whenever you get refilled cartridges, set them upright (like they were installed in the printer) for about 15 minutes. It helps the in to level off where it should be.
Run the cartridge surface where the ink come out under a small trickle of warm water. It helps to open clogged ink openings.
Have you removed the shipping sealing blue tape? I know its a stupid question but its easy to forget to do that.
Are they in and locked securely in place? Some machines are picky.
Have you run the usual alignment and cleaning functions?
Im not a 100% sure of this, but I think it has to be a 33 to be a black.
Use a lint free cloth to brush rubbing alcohol on the place where the circuits are on the cartridge. Let it air dry then try it again.

Wiping the nozzles with a moistened soft cloth or removing and reinserting the cartridges usually helps. The cartridges for the Lexmark X7170 are black: 32/34 and color: 33/35. Hi, I have a Lexmark X7170 Multi-function printer/copier/scanner and it is showing an error message "left cartridge incorrect". I have not charged the cartridges and I have tried to re-align it. Any ideas?


it means your left cartiridge got some problem, might be it got short and you have to replace that.

try this remove your left cartiridge and then try to print if it work then its clear that your aother cartiridge is gone and you need to change it.

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

How can the Error 2200 be fixed? Lexmark X7170



Power off the All-In-One (AIO) off and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds. Then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.
2 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the scanner cover and check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks. Close the scanner lid. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Continue to step 3.
3 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Insert the color cartridge, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Repeat step 3 with another color cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to step 4.
No: Repeat step 3 and install the black / photo cartridge. If both cartridges are installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

Error 2200


The 2200 error message indicates a scanner stall or jam. The steps below will help you to resolve the issue and clear the error message.

Printer Reset

Incorrect right cartridge


Ive tried removing the right cartridge so I can print in black, but now , once I refilled the black one, it wont even let me print black!! this is desperate; can anyone help?

Lexmark and Dell use a sensor in the cartridge to sense a low ink level. Once the sensor has been activated, you cannot reset it. The printer should work fine except for the fact that you'll have to override the "low ink" message on your computer.

Manufacurers don't make money on printer hardware. All the money is made from ink replacement, so they make it as difficult as possible to use anything other than the stuff you buy from them. Some (HP) put in chips for an "expiration" of the ink/toner. Go beyond the expiration date, the thing won't work.

Right cartridge incorrect


This solution (RESET the BRICK - solution 1 above) worked for me!

I had a brand new out of the box Lexmark X4580 and after one or two prints I was suddenly getting a "Left Cartridge Incorrect" error showing on the Printer Control Panel and the printer would now all me to print anything.

After about an hour of trying this and that (cartridges in, out and shalen all about!) ; no avail, I tried this and hey presto, it worked.

When I removed the "Brick" power supply I left it until the Green LED had faded right out though, I dont know if that was significant or not. Fingers crossed all is sorted now!
