Hello jeffery_armi,

The FRD03-DVD allows you to replace the factory head-unit and retain the audio and power to your OEM DVD player. With the FRD03-DVD, the audio from the OEM DVD player is connected to the auxiliary input of the aftermarket radio to allow the DVD audio to be heard over the vehicle's audio system.

The FRD03-DVD harness consists of a molex-plug, stereo RCA audio male connectors, and red and black wires ending in "pigtails".

1) Connect the molex plug into the OEM harness.
2) Connect the RCA audio connectors into the "AUX" inputs of your aftermarket head unit.
3) Tap the red "pigtail" wire into the "accessory" lead of the vehicle radio harness (also usually red).
4) Tap the black "pigtail" wire into the "ground" lead of the vehicle radio harness (also usually black). Alternatively, the black wire may be terminated with a ring terminal and secured to a metallic ground nearby.

Hope this helps.

    Hello again jeffery_armi,

Sorry about the delay but somehow the email notification got sent to my spam folder.

Turning on and then immediately turning back off is most often caused by a wiring problem. The equipment is sensing the problem and shuts down to prevent further damage.

I'd start by making sure that none of the wiring has cuts or breaks in the insulation, is not being pinched against sharp metal, and that all connections and terminals are tight and not shorting out, and that all plugs are oriented properly and fully seated.

If the wiring checks out, there is probably a fault in the equipment and it needs professional service.

    Hope this helps.

I installed a sata dvd drive in my dc5100 sff the boot order recognises it as an ide drive

i dont think it matter if your system detects it as sata or ide, both interface will work in installing OS, the important thing is you changed your boot order. originally it was supposed to boot in 1st drive whichever it is hard drive or dvd drive. go to bios then follow the instruction in how to move the order of boot sequence, mine is SHIFT key then PLUS.

Please tell how you install XP cuz i cant instal mine notebook same like yours Acer Aspire 5332

If you have the Windows XP install disk (and not an upgrade type) Simply enter your computers BIOS by pressing the key indicated when you first power the laptop on,(Try Delete, F1 F2) and make sure that in the boot order, the CD/DVD drive comes before the main HDD. Once you have the laptop set to boot from CD, insert the windows install disk and reboot the computer. It should say "Press any key to boot to CD/DVD....." Hit a key here, and then follow the on screen Windows installation instructions.

Did you get the disk that was in the box? it should have Power DVD software in the box. (Mine did) are you using a windows operating system? The software included runs on windows only.

My drive for cd/dvd player and burner is not on my computer anymore. it has just disappeared. When I look at my computer page removable disk e is not even there anymore!

  • Hi, I know you try a couple of things that may be similar, but this is a standard of mine. “To install, and Update Hardware, click to open "Computer" from the “Desktop”, or the [Start Menu], check to see if there is a DVD-RW Drive (D :), for external different (E or F:).
    I. Look in the “Device with Removable Storage area,” see if the device is present, if so? Do the following: to “setup” the ('player') for “Installation.”
II. Right click on (DVD) “Media Player” select (“Install”) follow all instructions thereafter.
III. If the area is (Blank?), “go to,” and 'click' on the "Start button" click all “Programs” scroll for a Media Disk Player”, open, and do the (“same as above”) for the installation. *Note: “Do the same for “Setup” (above) “Install.”
If the problem still exist, than the best thing to do at this point is perform a "System Restore." Try to remember the exact "Date before the problem occur, or once you start the System Restore, ("pick a date going back more than 5 days"), check the dates and see if any of the dates seem familiar. Pick the closest date prior to the "Sound going out!" Type in the "Search Window" from the start menu: system restore; scroll to find, and open. Follow all the instructions carefully for the process to be successful. "Hope it works out for you; if so rating the help will let me know, thanks."

Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!
