Re: Philips Visual Problem

Probable convergence involves
1)pull chassis
2)replace convergence IC's STK392-110 x 2
3)reset alignment

Usually,a 400.00 repair at a tv shop.......T.

Why does the tv look have a red tint all the time

The CRT coolant is needing replacement in the blue and green CRTs which make the red dominate. You can see the coolant is bad by looking in all three lenses you will see that the red is clear and bright where as the blue and green will be hard to see through which makes the colors dim. Replace the coolant should solve the issue. You can get the Phillips CRT coolant kit from which contains the coolant for all three CRTs and the CD with instructions.

Screen is red and I cannot adjust it enough to get the red out

Problem is going to be in the Green and Blue Tube ,you need to change the Coolant Fuild out and out in New,Philips is well known for having Bad Coolant fuild in the G/B Tubes.
With Back Off and TV on Look down inside of each Tube you should be able to see a Clear picture, in each Tube, If you do Not then you need to change out the coolant fuild.
You also have a Screen/Focus Control Block, it controls the Screen Drive and Focus to Each Tube R/G/B 3 controls on top and 3 below them. Top 3 should be for Focuse and Bottom 3 Screen Drive /Brightness to each Tube.
Now in order to aline for Correct Color you will need to adjust all 3 Tubes , Turn Color OFF in Menu then aline the Tubes untill you have a Black and white Picture ,Then go back to menu and turn Color on.

Corner of picture is out of focus with colors separated how do i adjust the images

The Philips and Magnavox sets have a way of the anti freeze going cloudy in the green and blue guns. Look (with a pair of sunglasses, while the set is running)) into the lenses, and make sure there is no haziness in the coupling lens (the lens the liquid makes up). This anti freeze keeps the CRT cool since they are run fairly hard, and generate lots of heat.

I have done 2 Philips sets just this week for anti freeze trouble. It should be clear as water, if it is not, that is the trouble. Your trouble could be that the anti freeze levels have dropped, the top of the coupling lens chamber, when the projected image hits the front of the set, appears at bottom of the screen. The image will be out of focus in the area where the anti freeze is gone.

Warped Picture, Separated colors

Each color (red, green & blue) has an amplifier IC (STK-).
When there is a convergence issue, the first step is change both
IC's for reliability. Then check for open fuses devices, usually
pico fuses.Then re-check convergence alignment.......T.
