Toshiba 50HP95 Plasma Power problem

The power light flashes red, but the TV won't turn on.  I ordered a new power supply board and installed it myself, but the problem remained the same...

When I plug the tv in there is a clickety-clack noise from the transformer on the power supply board, and then nothing but a flashing red power light. There is no response whatsoever from the power button on the TV or the remote...As I said, I replaced the power supply board, but that didn't change a thing.

How do I identify the logic board? Could it be called the "signal board" or is that a different board? What is the SSB? Model numbers would be great, but I assume I'll have to locate the parts on the TV to get them...If I can order them then I'll figure out how to replace them...

just had a service tech from Best Buy tell me I need new y and z boards, but that Toshiba only sells them with an entire "panel" that costs $3,400...does this make sense? The tech says I should fight with Toshiba to send me just the 2 boards and not the entire panel...if this makes sense does anyone know where I can find the boards without the panel?

cannot find sticker that reads "DIVERSITY CODE" anywhere...I don't see any "thick" wires anywhere, either...however, I did disconnect the y and z boards from multiple thin wires that run from the power board and connect with a single multiprong, white plastic connector...no change whatsoever--blinking red led power light, but zero response on the screen...no reponse when I hit "power" button...

how can I identify the ssb? there is a board about half the size of the power supply board adjacent to the power supply board (on left)...could this be it? I am assuming the board that the power cord connects to is the power supply board...

From main power board. You will have 2 main harnesses that connects to (Y) board left and (Z) board right. These should be thick wires that feed from main power board..You can disconnect one at a time.To see if unit at least power up past the RED L.E.D status .If it does then there is a good chance (Y) or (Z) boards .Also look at back of display panel .Let me know if you see a sticker that reads' DIVERSITY CODE' .This will be directly on panel itself and not the back cover of tv,let me know

the signal board is the board on the bottom of the tv with all of your video inputs. some manufactures like to split this circuitry and put it on two boards. the logic board is mounted underneath the signal

Blinking red power light. Can't turn the TV on either with remote or on the unit side panel.

Hi,

You need to check the output voltages of the power supply to see which one goes off. It may be due to short circuits some where,if otherewise, power supply board is dead, do you know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I hope this will help in solving the problem...

Toshiba 50hp95 will not respond and has flashing red power light. It seems many people have this problem, what's the solution? We have tried all the Toshiba suggestions.

My 50hp95 had the same problem; the red power light is flashing and the tv will not turn on. I unplug the power and plug it back in and the TV clicks, but the power light continues to flash red. My problem was a bad Seine module which you can bypass if you do not need to watch HD off air programming. Since I get my HD from the cable, I can bypass it. All you need to do is remove the back panel from the TV (unplug the TV first) and on the main circuit board unplug the white connector labeled PJ63A. The main circuit board is the one in the center of the TV and the PJ63A connector is the bottom white connector on the left side of the main circuit board (the label is printed in white on the circuit board under the connector). Once I plugged the TV back in it worked immediately.

50HP95 Toshiba Plasma TV No power but blinking power light

I had the same problem with my 50HP95 Toshiba Plasma TV. It would not turn on. I read online that if you unplug a connection on my TV and it turns on, it is a bad Seine board. I could not find this Seine board anywhere online. It was either out of stock or no longer available. The TV is just 5 year old. Why would they discontinue parts for it? Then I saw a video on You Tube where someone unplugged a connection in the back of his TV to fix problem. I decided to try it. I took the back off, unplugged a connection numbered PJ63A and the TV works again. So far so good. I downloaded the Service manual for this TV to find where PJ63A was.
I also called Toshiba Tech Dept. to find out if there was a chance I can cause further damage to my TV. They had no idea.

Today's Plasmas and LCD are more challenging to troubleshoot to the component level as most service techs replace the entire assemblies.
I would suggest to start by measuring the voltages from the power supply to the Ysus and Zsus board, those voltages will appear for a short time since the TV goes back to shutdown mode. Check all the fuses on the Ysus and Zsus boards as well, any blow fuse will indicate that a transistor or mosfet has shorted out. Most power issues are related to the Ysus and power supply assemblies.
