Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

Memory card wiped clean!

I understand there is a way to reload the saved info to a memory card that has been corrupted (I think thats the term that is used). My son used it and all his games are/were saved to it. I guess it was full. I'm not sure, but it now has NONE of his games on it. It has not been damaged. Please help me with this. Thanks.

Re: memory card wiped clean!

The only time I have had this happen, is when the cicuit card inside slid back.  This keep it from connecting to the PS2 memory slot. It is simple to repair, open the memory card up and slide it forward infront of the stay that supposed to keep it forward.  If the stay is broken, then put someting inside the memory card  to keep the circuit card pushed forward.

Memory Card Error Messages

Fully Corrupt:
When the entire save area of the Memory Card becomes corrupt, the system will inform the player that the Memory Card is corrupt and offer to format it. The card must be formatted before gameplay begins or when the game attempts to access the Memory Card. The exact message may vary from software to software.

Follow the steps for formatting a memory card.

For specific issues with the Memory Card 1019, please click here.

Suggestion: It is always a good idea to copy your most important files to a second Memory Card as a back-up.
Data Area Only Corrupt:
When only the data area of a Memory Card is corrupt (not the entire Memory Card) the game may not detect this until the Memory Card is accessed. Once it is accessed, the game will inform the player that the file being accessed is corrupt and must be erased. The game will only delete the one file being accessed and will not format the entire Memory Card (Other saved game files on the Memory Card may be OK).

Follow the steps for deleting a file.

Memory Card is Damaged:
If the Memory Card has been physically damaged, or has been damaged beyond repair, you will get this message. The Memory Card will need to be replaced. The system may attempt to format the card, but if it cannot it will give the error Memory Card is Damaged. There is no way to recover the game data from the memory card.

PS2 Memory Card slot error! Data may be corrupt.?

as of right now there is no true fix to the problem. deleting the file does nothing to stop the future failing of future saving. the file is indeed not corrupted, however, there is something corrupt with the game and it doesn't matter if you buy a new one because it will happen again. it is the game! it is not the memory card, the save file, or your PS2. i recently purchased a new hobbit game to see if it would solve the saving issue, it did not. as soon as i got to a certain point during the Barrels Out of Bond chapter, it sent an error message first stating there was not enough room on the card, then later on it stated that the data was corrupt. there was enough memory and the file was not truly corrupt. as far as we know, there is no solution to this problem. many people have had this issue though and it would be nice if the game's developers would address the issue.

My Playstation 2 memory card has corrupted data.

well, if it only does this error for one game then maybe the problem is in the game itself? Is the CD a real one? or is it copied with a golden back?
if it is copied then such things can definitely happen.

Says corrupt game files; wont let me play

Hmm... You've already deleted everything and re-loaded it, correct? Did you also wipe the "saved game" memory? The bad file could be in the PS3's internal memory card. So, you'll have to wipe that. If this is still not working, you may have to reformat you entire console. I know that really sucks, but it MAY have to be done as a last resort. In the settings menu, there's a place that says "format hard drive". If you try to "back up" your memory on to a memory stick, I'd recommend against it. Because you might just be putting the corrupted file back into the hard drive! Let me know what you decide to do, bro. Maybe I can be of more help down the line. Good luck, Dempsey!

When i turn on my ps3 it comes up ''hard disc drive is corrupt''

My PS3 has done this before. If it is like mine then all you have to do is wipe all the memory and restart the system which should be one of the options it can give you if you click past the "Hard drive disc is corrupt screen." This can happen because you might of shut down the system by accident when it was saving a game thus the hard drive becomes corrupted. You won't lose any online info but you will lose memory to saved games and thing else that is saved on the HDD like Demo Games. I hope this helps you. If not then I am very sorry and I am sure it will be fixed if not by my advice.

My ps2 has just started to run very slow. Whats wrong??

If you mean the games take longer to load then it may be a dirty laser. Try cleaning the laser with a laser cleaning disk, and give your games a wipe over with some white spirit then dry them gently with a soft cotton cloth. You can also try placing your ps2 in the opposite direction it is in now, for example if you have it laying vertically then set horizontal and vice versa.

Also check that you do not have any corrupt data on your memory card/s corrupt data will show as blue squares. Delete all the blue squares to prevent your memory card getting more corrupt

I hope this helps

If you tried to delete the save game from the memory stick and it's not letting you. Copy what you need off of the memory stick to your PC via the usb cable and reformat your memory stick.
