Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I have a Ricoh Aficio GX3050n printer. Recently the blue and black cartridges ran out, when I replaced them the printer still shows that they are empty. The power button is flashing continually, also when I try to enter the menu from the button nothing happens.

I have a job reset button and tried to hold it down 5 seconds but it made no difference. Ink levels on black and blue show depleted and power button continues to flash. I have also powered the unit off and back on.

Since u ve reintalled the cartridges again.... there are two possibilities that ur ricoh faces.... one may be the driver software has gone corrupt.... so i recommend u to uninstall all the  printer software and reinstall it.... if the problem still persists after that then u have only one reason why ur printr is behaving like that.... ur ink sensor inside ha s gone bad or possibly broken.... and its refusing to detect the ink... u might need replacement..... this is a job for the printer repair guy.... sensors aint that costly so u neednt worry much
thank you have a nice day

Hello itgeeked,
am am sure if you uninstall the printer software on the computer and reinstall it and it does not work, you may have to get another set of ink cartridges from a different store. sometimes the cartridges are not in order and the system does not recognize them. so get another set and try it again. try not to a refilled cartridge, cheers

Just hold the stop/reset button for 5 seconds and this should get you up and running. The ink level won't reset though, but at least you'll be able to print without problems.

Hi,
Error 990 means the problem is with the scanning unit which is basically called a laser unit as well that requires a replacement.

Changed black cartridge now getting a 990 error

  • Remove options and try again (NOTE: when removing the Postscript board, you must replace the 2 IBM ROMs)
  • If the printer now works, replace options one at a time to test them

If the colors are good and solid with no fades, only black streaks, then black is the culprit. I suggest replacing the black cartridge.
