I'm not familiar with this fan but assuming it is a ceiling fan, it would have a switch to change directions for summer/winter. Is it possible you moved the switch?

SOURCE: Dayton Attic fan running backwards

If the fan blade is on properly, then you probably have the wiring reversed. If you connect a line from motor to red box wire, and other motor line to black box wire, it will turn clockwise. If you reverse the wiring it will turn counter-clockwise ;-)

SOURCE: I have an old Westinghouse

Hi, well usually the field windings seldom fault. And are usually wound and inserted at the factory. This in turn usually make removal impossible, or at least very difficult.

That said however, the Field winding need to be metered and the resistance checked. Usually unless something very untoward has been done to this fan motor they should be OK,.

Also meter the Commutator as well check for Open & short circuits. The website below will assist you.

It maybe cheaper to simply obtain an after market Motor, if you can get one of similar size and it fits on the mounts it will work and should be OK.

Motors can be obtained from Ebay, or similar places.

Heater fan runs while ignition is turned off

Hi Ronan, Sounds as if someone some time has carried out a little rewiring. Find the power cable going to the fan and trace it backwards to the constant live connection its attached to, disconnect it from there and reconnect to the ignition switch Acc or if you only want it to work while the engine is running, connect it to the ignition output of the switch. You'll need a test meter and make sure you have it selected to DC voltage not resistance. Its an easy job. Regards John

sounds as if the heater coil itself is burnt out. These coils may be repaired if you can get an universial coil repair kit and rewire the heater coil yourself. Since the age of the unit is in question I don't know if it is possible to get a kit for repairs but you never know. I would check an a/c supply house for this kit. Good Luck on your repairs

Saw is rotating backwards can you help. its a power devil table saw

This happens with Bosch saws once in a while. The field coil in the motor short circuits. This causes the saw to run very slowly or sometimes run backwards. I sounds like yours has this problem. Unfortunatly the only way to repair the motor is to replace the field coil. This is a fairly involved repair and you might benifit from taking to a power tool service center.

My bosch table saw runs slowly backwards what part do i replace

Replace the field coil. I'm going to bet its a Model 4000. I have done about 100 of these saws in the last couple of years and my customers always complain of the same problem, "the saw was running backwards"

Change the armature back bearing while you have it apart, they always seize eventually.
