Question about D-Link High-Speed 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter AirPlusXTREMEG (DWL-G520) (DLINKDWLG520)

Open Question

Settings of dlink 510 to linksys wap54g

The setup. One computer unit with LAN is connected to broadbad connection. Also connected is Dlink dwl-510 PCI card. Its wireless card. And I think internet connection is passing thru lan then pci wireless to AP, linksys wap54g.

The first unit have the internet connection directly thru lan, and to share internet connection. The dwl-510 PCI connect to linksys wap54g to share internet connection to the other computer with installed dlink 510 PCI card and usb adapter to the laptops. And one unit is connected thru lan port of linksys AP to its lanport.

Problem is internet connection cannot be share. Pinging its computer indicated they are connected and seeing its other. It can even access AP utility thru usb adapter of a laptop.

I need correct setting for this setup. Tnx

I just did some testing from my own unit. The tech guy who work first miss the correct settings. On internet sharing the DNS setting should be also the default gateway number of the AP device. Inputing the IP DNS set will not gonna share its internet connection. In this, setup the settings will depend heavily from the AP device.

SOURCE: Sharing internet from dlink 510g to linksys wap54g AP

yes, the manufacturer doesn't really matter as long as they are 802.11g (usually backwards compatible with a and b) so as long as the router and the adapters are installed properly NO problem

Setup is unable to detect card however windows

You aren't very descriptive. Either way. I'm assuming when you say Setup, you are referring to the driver installation setup. Delete/uninstall the driver. Unplug the adapter. Now, start the setup. When the installation goes along, eventually it'll ask for you to insert the card, thats when you insert it. It should then work, if you finish the setup. If thats not the issue. Heres a possibility. You are running windows Vista, or running Windows Vista 64 bit, or maybe XP 64 bit. Either way, you are likely using a 32 bit driver, on a 64 bit machine. Or vise versa. If not then you could be using a vista driver on an XP machine and the XP machine doesn't know what to do with it. I suggest going to dlinks website. There are 3 versions of this wireless card, and that also could be the issue. The first one they released is here http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DWL-G630 and that only has drivers for XP and 2000. http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DWL-G630_revB rev B. Also only XP and 2000. http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DWL-G630_revC rev C. also again XP and 2000 BUT includes a Vista 32 bit driver. I hope i helped. Not bad for free...

Why cant i connect my dlink

Forget the D-Link drivers!!! I suffered with this same DWL-G630 issue for two years, trying different settings, reloading drivers, all with no solution. My card kept dropping it's connection, or wouldn't connect at all until I removed then replaced the card. Finally, I read on another forum this card uses the same chipset as an ASUS card, and to try the ASUS drivers. I downloaded and manually installed the drivers from here:

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/lan/wifi-g/wifi-g.zip

Unzip it, but DON'T run the setup.exe file, because it will try to install the ASUS program. If you open the unzipped folder you will find another folder called "Drivers". Just use your Network Settings (from your Control Panels) to manually update the driver of your DLink card, and navigate to the Drivers folder just mentioned. Reboot -- you'll probably have to reconnect to your access point/router one last time, but that's it! It's good as gold after that.

I was used to losing connections 5-8 times PER DAY (I'm 15 feet from the router!) and now I've been connected non-stop for two weeks and counting!!

D-link dwl-2100ap in WDS mode Received Deauth: WLAN 1 11G STA

I have had similar problems with DWL-2100 and (much less often) with DWL-3200. I have no solution, but a workaround: changing the authentication mode. For example, if the units are using WPA-Personal, I change it (on both) to WPA2-Personal or WPA-Auto-Personal. It doesn't seem to matter which mode is used, it's just the fact of changing it that helps (eventually). You may have to go through the process more than once. Also, realize that although the web interface comes up 30 seconds or so after a reboot, it may take another 30-60 seconds before a link is established, so don't give up too soon while trying these changes.

Limited or no connectivity to the internet. my setup: the telephone port is approx 30m from where i need internet access. Originally I had a dlink wireless router set up but was connected via cable, now...

On which port of the D-link router did you plug the WRT160N router?

Do this setup.

Disconnect the WRT160N from D-link.

Connect a computer to port 1 of the WRT160N. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. you may need to type in the username and password for WRT160N. on the setup page Change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. save the settings.

Connect a cable from port 1,2,3 or 4 of the D-link router to the Internet port of the WRT160N. turn off everything then turn them on starting from cable modem>D-link >WRT160N then computer.

You should be able to access the internet.
