the ac was not working and the compressor ingages then shuts right back of then back on but the air never gets cold. hot air blows on high and low but there is never any cold air. it was not vacumed out but it was drained and then reinstalled with 134 before it was started just about 10lbs then started and filled until blue. it stays in the blue but never gets cold. all of the fuses are good and i really dont know much about ac units in cars i know how to work on cars alot as fas as brakes, callipers, exhaust, electrical, changing clutch...etc so i konw a good bit but have never messed with ac units. anymore help would be appriciated thanks everyone

WAS THE A/C WORKING BEFORE THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED?

  • gerry bissi May 11, 2010

Did you try jumpering across the a/c cycling switch (on the receiver/dryer) to see if the compressor engages? Don't do for long as it could damage the system.

Could be the presure switch, the a/c conrol head in the car, etc.

Do as Jugernaughtxet said also look for the label under the hood that tells you what king of refrigerant I.E. R-134A on this label will be the exact charge in ounces it takes put this in no more no less. If you dod 10 Lbs not 1 Lbs to start with this is your problem as 10 Lbs is way too much.

Need to evacuate the system check the orifice tube put back together and re-vacuum system to remove the air from the system.
it's cycling to fast which means air in the system.

any air left in the system will counter any refrigerant in the system.

I have a2004 mustang with a 3.9 making the same noise, and the shop replaced the AC compressor and all belt tensioners. I found that the noise is the timing chain tensionors .

01 V6 Mustang only blows hot air out vents

You're on the right track. Look under the hood for a broken, cracked or dislodged vacuum hose. It's almost always the problem.

No power to AC compressor

well what you can do because your switch is bad is have a mechanic install a toggle switch that has to be flipped on before you turn on your ac and your compressor will go back to working normally. wired directly to battery is the only way to guarantee that you will get back to that ice cold as. ENJOY!!!!!!

AC wont work on 1998 ford mustang V6.

there must be a faulty wiring in your airconditioning system, try to see an aircon technician for trouble shooting

1996 Ford Mustang AC

I don't know about the part #. But the low pressure switch is on top of the accumulator, maybe the compressor is not cycling due to low refrigerant. If you are low on refrigerant the low pressure sensor will shut off the compressor.

02 mustang gt convertible

4.6 V8. Its on the passenger side, front of the engine. You'll need to remove the AC Compressor to get to it, it's a black sensor, with one bolt holding it in place, with 2 wires comming off of it. Its right behind the AC Compressor
