Question about Sta Rite STA-RITE THERMISTOR - 42001-0053S
Pad shows 61 degrees for the water and the heater runs for a few minutes then the the pad numbers start to fluctuate 120,98,101 and the burner shuts down. Is the problem with the thermistor?
Hi, we have fixed many of these units in the past month and the thermistor will shutdown the entire unit if is has a malfunction. It will mimic a control fault but, its just a safety feature that will allow the unit to go into safe mode until the faulty thermistor is replaced.
You can test the wires with a multimeter. use the thermistor terminal clips for testing. connect the meter to each wire clip and turn on the unit. if you receive any readings before the unit shuts down, this will confirm thermistor failure.
