Columns of tiny red dots fill my screen

When I came to work this morning my monitor was full of columns of tiny red dots, top to bottom and all the way across and I can't get them to clear up. Any suggestions?

Sorry to tell you, I do repairs on LCD screens. And the issue your having is with the lcd part of the whole monitor itself, or the image processor is failing. More often than not, its impossible to find a replacement part to change out in this case. And should you take it to a repair shop, it will cost more to diagnose, order part, and labor repais than if you just got a new one. Hope

The discoloration problem is due to the near by magnetic field appliances like speakers which are very near to monitors ...
so what you have to do is just keep some distance to the monitor from the speakers and other magnetic appliances and then press menu button & just give degauss..

What does it mean by dead cells?

I assume this is related to your LCD monitor.
I think you mean dead pixels. The LCD monitor has tiny pixel elements, one for each red, blue, green color and each one of these colored pixels are turnes on by a transistor. When a transistor fails then the colored pixel it controls does not light up. This is a dead pixel and it shows up as a tiny black dot.
If the screen displays a blue screen, a dead blue pixel will appear as a tiny black dot in the blue screen.
You normally would not notice a few dead pixels unless they are grouped together.

Can't get a full screen on my monitor

You might have to look for your control pannel. Try to change the screen resolution. Try to increase or decrese it and see the difference.

Tiny dots about 1 inch apart down the side of page

Again, this was actually HP Laserjet 3800. Problem solved by chatting with HP, and them having me go into a diagnosis mode that disabled cartridge check. Then, I removed the cyan cartridge, the dots went away. They then had me put the black into the cyan slot, and not dots appeared. I had backup toner on hand, swapped in a new cyan and magenta, and all was good. HP agreed to replace the cartridges.

Screen shuts off. Power lite blinks. Aquos 42"

Hi,

Hope you have the correct resolution selected:

HD View Modes: When viewing an HD program you can select the following 4 viewing modes.
  • Stretch: suitable for viewing 1.78:1 DVDs. When viewing 1.85:1 DVDs, this mode will show thin black bands at top and bottom of the screen.
  • Dot by Dot (1080i/p only): detects the resolution of the signal and displays an image with the same number of pixels on the screen. When a 720p signal is being input, the image will be delivered in full screen.
  • Smart Stretch: suitable for stretching 4:3 programs to fill the screen.
  • Zoom: suitable for viewing wide-screen 2.35:1 aspect-ratio programs in full screen.
PC View Modes: You can connect the TV to your PC through the HDMI inputs to use the TV as a monitor. The following view modes are available in PC mode.
  • 4:3 Input Signal: You can select between Normal, Zoom, Stretch, or Dot by Dot.
  • 16:9 Input Signal: You can select between Stretch or Dot by Dot.
Also verify if you have set auto timer to 30 mins or so thats why the TV shuts down after a particular time.

Thanks

Red dot

That dot represent lit (stuck) red sub-pixel and if it only one that is not considerable as failure due to dead pixel warranty but you can try to solve this problem with software called screen fix. It possible that during exploitation that red dot dissapear.
Good luck
