Question about Maytag Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Store closed. Warranty paid. Need repairs

I have bought a Maytag Electric Range and a Maytag built in dishwasher. I paid for an extended 5 year warranty but now the store has closed down. When I call Maytag they do not have a record of this paid extended warranty although I have a bill showing this. I now need repairs done and don't know where to go.
As I am assisting my sister-in-law with this problem you can contact the below. All Invoices are in their name:
Although the invoice is made out to LayRia Giovanni the correct name is
Giovanni Lauria. Address 192 Buena Vista Dr.,Woodbridge, ON Canada L4H 1T7.

The warranty company is the only one that would extend it. This happens alot. Is the warranty thru another company? Like GE? My advise is to call the warranty company and see if they can help. Otherwise the extended warranty is no good.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is with the control board that is bad and yes these parts are covered less than 5 to 7 years of warranty, for this you have to contact manufacturer. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have mod#GLD4355RF53 ser.#TH83039469 When you turn it on it turns off.I found out that it is vent system and this mod# has a manufacture flaw because they have vented to the back.

My sollution is to buy something else but buy the extended warranty. Keep reading to find out why.
I have the same model. Only 2 years old and either the control panel or module is out. $150 or $130 depending on part and I install. Then you have the risk of it going out again. It was a $600 + dishwasher. I'm pissed.
I am trying to sell it on Craigs to someone for parts as I hate to scrap it. Probably the moisture problem and the power surges did it in.
I bought a new maytag with the extended warranty and will probably extend it more. The problem is that all the electronics are sensitive, fragile, and expensive. No sense buying a new appliance without the warranty because no new appliance is reliable anymore. I threw away $600+ before and had I paid an extra $100, it would be fixed and still warrantied.

I have had the board replaced 5 times and the entire dishwasher replaced once. It was necessary to go to the state attorney general to get Maytag to extend the warranty. Just called the service center for the sixth time, after this the warranty will be gone and will replace with something well built.

Hello citrusfruit
Hello ,
Welcome to fixya.

Sounds like you have a short circuit in your electric range!
What is the model # ?
How old is this range?

You will need a good service tech, hands on for this!

Here is an interesting report I just read!

Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old range

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your range,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your range is under warranty or less than four years old ,
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that ranges under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your ranger is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new range.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive range
eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of ranges you replace are likely to end up in a landfill.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!

Smelled like burnt board

Just so you know. Bosch has a 5 year warranty on any printed circuit board (excluding labor) so you pay only for labor charges. They have a 2 year warranty (again excluding labor) on the entire dishwasher. I am leaving a copy of my owners manuals warranty information I hope this helps.

Extended Limited Warranty: Bosch also provides these additional
limited warranties:
• 2 Year Limited Warranty: Bosch will repair or replace
any component that proves to be defective in materials or
workmanship (excludes labor charges).
• 5 Year Limited Warranty on Electronics: Bosch will repair or
replace any Bosch microprocessor or printed circuit board if it
proves to be defective in materials or workmanship (excludes
labor charges).
• 5 Year Limited Warranty on Dish Racks: Bosch will replace the
upper or lower dish rack (excluding rack components), if the rack
proves defective in materials or workmanship (excludes labor
charges).
• Lifetime Warranty against Stainless Steel Rust Through:
Bosch will replace your dishwasher with the same model or
a current model that is substantially equivalent or better in
functionality, if the inner liner should rust through (excludes
labor charges). Bosch will replace the stainless steel door if the
door should rust through (excludes labor charges).
The foregoing timeline begins to run upon the date of purchase, and
shall not be stalled, tolled, extended, or suspended, for any reason
whatsoever.

Load crunching noise

The motor has a 2 to 5 year warranty so if that's what the repair guy says I would go ahead and have it repaired. The noise can come from the pump, impellers or the motor. But if he's sure that's where it's coming from have it fixed by the repair service under warranty.
