Question about Toshiba 32A41 32" TV
I have a toshiba television and recently it keeps cutting out and even when reset on timer it cuts out how can i prevent this from happening it has not happened before and now it cuts out every five minutes.
These two problems may not be related; the first is either a reaction of an overvoltage protection circuit that monitors the ~ 25kv supplied to the CRT or the sign of a decaying component, most likely an electroytic capacitor.
Sometimes, this component can be seen to be failing by a bulge on the top (or end, if horizontal) of the package or the appearance of a crusty desposit around the seal.
The second problem is probably coming from a failed or fractured solder joint, often called a 'cold' solder joint.
These quite often respond to mechanical jarring or disturbance of the board on which it occurs.
Looking for these without signal tracing capabilities can be a lifetime task.
Labor charges in both cases (if you still have a shop around) could be a significant amount.
