I have a brand new Sharb LC37d44U LCD TV. Out of the box it does not turn on. I get a single blink every 30 seconds on the power light and that is it. Any suggestions??

sorry, what else can I offer?????"?\

I have a brand new Sharp Aquios LC37D44U. It is not in warranty but when pluged in the only thing that happens is the power lite blinks red every 10 or so seconds. Nothing at all comes up on the screen and not sound is heard at all. This is a 37" LCD TV from Sams' Club (I think) and it never worked.

I was planning replacing the power supply but want to confirm that to be the problem some way.

  • timnj07052 May 13, 2009

Not sure what that has to do with the problem but I am planning on using as a TV. So, you think it "may" be a power supply and the fact that a power supply is $109. plus shipping there is nothing else you would suggest?? Is there some type of reset? Are you at all famillar with this unit?? I am not sure where we are going with this? Since you reponded does that mean no one else is going to look at this becuase we are not really doing anyting here??

A dead condition usually indicates one of the following: Open fuse (often internal, and usually pops due to other circuit defects). Short (overload condition) in the circuitry. Failure elsewhere in the circuitry. Most modern electronics have some logic circuitry, and if there is a section of the circuit not working, the logic circuit keeps the set from coming on at all.

First, if your power cord plugs into the set, check that it is properly connected. If you can get into the internals, find the fuse, check it, replace with an exact or near exact size.

If problems are beyond the simple, technical expertise will be required to nail down and fix the problem.

Hope I helped with the repair of your problem.
An Accept from you is how I get paid.

I think it can be the power supply. Are you going to use it for TV or as a monitor?

Turns on, but 30 seconds later screen dims and then about 30 seconds after that TV turns off and red light blinks 6 times. What's wrong?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Picture & sound go on & off every sec, red light blinks 5 times

helloFive blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Power light keeps blinking green with no display

I would try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes to let the TV reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

My Sony Bravia turns itself off Stand by red light blinks twice.

If you bought it brand new from a dealer, I would take it back or have them come out and look at it. Less than a month old, it is still under the 1 year MFG warranty or the very best a 30 day one.

1. Try resetting the TV by disconnecting the power for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in. If this has no
effect, try moving the TV to a different power outlet that has been tested and is known to be good.
2. If your unit continues to fail, please contact our Customer Solutions Department at 1-800-631-3811 Monday
through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 7 pm CST for a local Toshiba Authorize Service Station Hope this helps you with your problem.
