Hi there.
Yes the adapter is fixable and at a low cost, just take it to a reputable PC repair shop and they should be able to solder a new one on to the motherboard within 24-48 hours or even the same day depending on how busy the technicians are, or if you are confident with a soldering iron you could repair it yourself but you will need to order the adapter first.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

There are two ways ,first you will have to replace the whole motherboard which is not cheap ,the second way would be to buy the power jack seperate from a place like Ebay and then try to solder it onto the motherboard which is not an easy thing to do as you need a special soldering gun.
The best option is to take it to an authorised Acer support center and ask for a quote.

Good Luck

This is a common complaint of the wire shorting inside, please go to my tips page so that this particular complaint was reviewed with some tips.
The short within the wire cuts off the adaptor votlage as it is in protect mode-- not a failure of the adaptor. so have the wire **** off and connected or use a new pin at the end.

I guess your charger has very low power (low wattage). That is why it charges the battery when the laptop is off. But as soon as the laptop is on, the charger can't keep up with the power dreained by keeping the laptop on and eventually the battery runs outr of juice.
According to the user's manual (http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/acer/0000/userguides/AS5600_3680_UG.pdf)
I suggest you get a charger with at least 90 W.

If you've replaced the battery and the AC Adapter, the only thing left is the motherboard.
