Question about Trendware TRENDnet 4-port Switch - 54 Mbps 802.11g Wireless Firewall router (TEW-432BRP)
I have a laptop - HP pavilion dv6000 with vista ultimate on it. When my router was unsecured the laptop connected to it just fine, but now that i added security (WPA2-PSK), it stopped connecting. On the laptop, I have already removed, and added again the network with the new security settings but I keep getting the message that the security setting are not compatible. I put in the right key and the setting are correct but vista will not connect to the network. I've noticed that the IPv4 on my laptop is now in the 169.254.0.0 - 169.254.255.255 range while the other computers and the router are in the 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 range. Any idea on how to make things work again and keep my router secure?
169.254.x.x IP suggests that your NIC is not communicating with the DHCP server of your Router. Try disabling/enabling the NIC card and in the TCP/IP properties, make sure that the IP address is configured as "Bobtain IP address automatically"
Also try installing the latest drivers for your NIC card.
