Question about Numark iDJ2 - DJ iPOD Mixer Docking Station

Where can I get repairs for the IDJ2?

Someone spilled a drink at a party over my Numark IDJ2, and the turntables now stick and there are a few other problems. Does anyone know if a repair service exists? I'm trying to avoid buying a whole new system.
Thanks!

NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! allow intoxicated people that are holding drinks near your DJ equipment. There's something about all those little lights that attract their central focus(kinda like a moth to a flame) and that is when accidents happen. If Numark doesn't have a service/repair department I'm thinking you could get the schematics from Numark and take it your nearest Peavey or other band instrument dealer/repair shop and maybe they could lat least look at it. Depending on what they find... it might actually be cheaper to buy a new system.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Idj2 will not recognize my external hard drive

Also try the second port on the back,
try a USB stick with some songs on it, to see if the USB ports are working. If the USB stick works,
Could be the format the External unit is formatted in. Using FAT32 is recommended, look in the manual (downloadable form numark.com) for supported formats.
Preferrable an external HD, which has its own power supply, not fed by the USB ports on the IDJ2 (max 0.5 A)

I want delete songs from idj2 pls help

There are no songs on the IDJ2
Only on your Harddrive / USb stick or Ipod.
If you want to play songs via the IDJ2, you need the librarian software for using the IDJ2 in combination with you songs.

What is happening to me iDJ2? He can not find the songs that are on the stick. Atualziar tried the firmware but it crashes after the screen "LOOKING FOR FIRMWARE. How to solve this problem? Help me please.

this is definitely a firmware problem. It sounds like it may have gotten disconnected in the middle of updating firmware. If you are unable to update firmware you will have to send it in for repair.

I get no sound from my speakers

If you are saying that you are connecting the idj2 directly to the speakers... Yes, You need a amplifier. Most DJ mixers only "pre-amplify" the sound signal (like the idj2 does), but there isn't enough power to drive a set of speakers.

The path goes like this...
idj2 or cd players&mixer===>Amplifier===>Speakers===>Party

How to download firmware and librarian files to my idj2

The current firmware available is version v1.13 which is located at http://www.numark.com/idj2 . It also has Librarian v1.5 included with it.

Download the firmware to your PC and then unzip it to your desktop where you can retrieve it easily.

Transfer the firmware file to the handy little 128mb thumb drive that came with the idj2. (I moved all of the files from the thumb drive on to my PC so the firmware file was the only file on my thumb drive to avoid any computer related confusion)

Making sure your idj2 is powered "OFF" insert the thumb drive containing firmware v1.13 into one of the rear USB ports. Make sure this is the only thing plugged into the idj2 at this time(no keyboard, ect)

Turn on the idj2 on. You will see a message that says the machine is checking the firmware.(I don't have the system in front of me right now but that is roughly what it says) It will take a few minutes and the system will update to the new firmware.

I've tried it with a PC, I've tried it with a Mac, I've tried it with two different memory drives, and nothing will get it to update. Numark has a quality problem they need to address soon.

Uploading problem

Some things you have to do yourself... It only takes some work to get it right.

For using ipods or harddrives/USB sticks with the IDj2, your best off with creating Numark libraries. This makes the IDj2 quicker when searching/loading tracks.

This can be done on your Mac or PC with
librarian 1.50/IDJ2 1.09(a)firmware combination. If you havent updated your IDJ2 yet, do so. It's the most recent verion, and fixes most problems...
Files can be found on www.numark.com/idj2. Look around in this page. There is also explained how to update with a FAT formatted USB stick.

If you have created a library before, Itunes won't update this library, cause it's made by Numark. Itunes and Numark use both a different database.
If you run Librarian, it will still see the Ipod playlists, and add them accordingly in your Numark database, and can be recalled in the IDJ2.
If you have created libraries with Librarian 1.33 or on the IDJ2 with firmware before 1.09. You have to remove the whole libary, and recreate one with Librarian 1.50.
Mostly there is a directory on the device called " .library ". You can throw this away, and recreate a new library.

Good luck and happy DJ-ing.

regards,
Jack.

When docking it takes too long transfering data from ipod to idj2

Hi,
if you have a PC, you're better of preparing a library for your USB/IPOD devices with Librarian 1.50, but only if you are running 1.09(a) firmware on the IDJ2. This is the preferred and quicker way...
Do an upgrade if this is not done yet. Go to
http://www.numark.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/1230/tt/5
for downloading the files.

When rerunning the librarian(for instance when adding tracks), choose normal mode. It will add every playable track. (you could try this out on an USB stick with some tracks on it for testing purposes).
If this doesn't work, you could have a corrupt library, and have to rebuild(choose advanced in Librarian). Also, when you have created with earlier versions of IDJ2 firmware, then you have to rebuild the whole library.

Numark stated on their forums, when connecting a device, to never choose update, but load instead. It can use mp3/wav/non secured aac files, but not wma..
If there are any other questions, you can also send an e-mail to numark. They are reasonably quick with their responses.

regards

Jack

My IDJ2 is unstable

Hi,
not sure what it can be, but if you used librarian before, be sure that you are running librarian 1.50 with fw 1.09(a). If you have created a library with 1,33, then you have to create the library again with the 1.50 version. Don't use USB powered drives. Mostly they overload the USB port, with al sorts of weird problems. If you have one of these, use an USB powered hub to remove the load of the IDJ2 port. You could test with an USB stick, for a few hours..

regards,
Jack.
