If you get a usb compatible wall charger(you know what I'm talking about right?) and a small mp3 player usb cord from walmart it should work out fine. You could also go to radioshack and ask for assistance-othats what i would do

MP3 players are usually charged by the supplied USB cable when it is connected to a computer's USB port.
You can purchase an USB mains adapter and you can then connect the MP3 player with the USB cable into this USB mains adapter.

I have 2 philips gogear mp3 players do I need to have to different software(s) installed? it's not charging. it's the 2gb one.

if they are the same model you anly need to install the driver once for both ...and the charging problem might be from the usb slot and not from the mp3 player ...cause there is no way that both to have the same issue ..
so change the slot and try again attention if on connecting you do not need to confirm from the mp3 itself the tip of connectivity ...charging or ..pc communication ..
another thing that might be is that it is not charging when it is on storage connectivity ..and in this case click on the remove safe icon the tray system (lower right on task bar ) ..and choose remove and select the device ..but leave it will stop the memory communication and it is a chance that wills tart being in charging mode..But usually this kinda devices that charge via USB slot..start charging from the moment you connect them into a good slot matter if the driver is present or not..

Can it charge through a pc i bought this at a yard sale and i dont know if it is not charged i have a usb cable but when i plug it into my laptop nothing happens i noticed the ac/dc adapter on the side and...

This model only works with its own proprietary adapter, and I believe that Philips ran out sometime in 2008. You can double-check Fox International to see if they have any left, or you can find one on eBay (here's one for $1.35 - Philips would have charged $35.00):

Philips GoGear SA3125/37 MP3 Player Charger cable

The charger cable is sold by an outside company - Philips can give you the number for that company, or you can order it online.

If you already have a charger cable, plug the mp3 player into your computer - it will charge as long as the hold/lock switch is not engaged.

Charging battery

you might have a faulty charger or the battery just won't charge , if you can exchange it back at the store I would do that , but otherwise the charger would have to be tested and the battery , and if those are ok then something is wrong in the mp3 player
