Question about Craftsman 17.5 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor - CA Model
After sitting for a while it will restart and run again for a few minutes, Then dies again.
This sounds like a fuel filter with just enough dirt in it to allow some gas to seep through, but when the engine is started it will not provide enough to keep it running. Locate and close the spring tabs on either end of the filter. You will need to push something (a small bolt perhaps) in the ends of the fuel lines to prevent gas from coming out on both ends. Elevate them as well.
When you put the new filter own, you will have to use the choke more than usual to pump gas into the filter and up to the carb. If this isn't it, it is likely the fuel pump. Please write us back and let us know!
