My only suggestion on the above information would be to reset the receiver. You can do this by first turning off the receiver. Once the receiver is off, hold the Power On button down for 5 - 10 seconds. This will reset everything to the factory settings.
Unfortunately this is not a fuse problem, as the fuse would burn before the protector check code appears. Probably there is a short circuit and you should take to an authorized sony repair shop. Good Luck.

Page 59 of the manual (avaliable at retrevo.com after you register)...
"PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 11
Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn off the receiver , check the speaker conenction and turn on power again"
What this means is it senses a short circuit in one or more of the speaker paths. Disconnect all speakers, see if it works with none; then start connecting speakers again until you find the problem.
There is a defect in the final amplification stage of the receiver. This may have been caused by a short in the speaker wires. The typical defective parts are the output transistors. Expect a parts cost in the $40 range for this repair. Any audio service shop should be able to repair this.
error code 11 (protector) - According to the manual, 11/PROTECTOR means, "Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn of the receiver, check the speaker connection and turn on the power again."Most likely, a strand of speaker wire is shorted to the chassis at one of the speaker terminals.
Hope this helps !
Try disconnecting all the speakers from the back and turn the unit back on. If the "protector" display goes away, turn the unit back off and reconnect one speaker. Turn it back on and check for "protector". Repeat.
If you find that one of the speakers causes "protector" to appear, you either have a bad speaker cable or bad speaker. Try swapping each of those out to see what happens.
