I went to local bike shop where the mechanic who shoved a cassette removal tool into the spline and turned it out. Turns out the bike was originally manufactured as a 6, rather than a 5 speed.

I need an owners manual for a pacific evolution bike

Are you sure the derailer or sprocket are not bent? The next thing if not that is the cable itself is it pulling the delairer to release the gear from the gear it is in? one final is the bike just may not go into 6th gear depending on which gear you have the front sprocket in because it would pull the front sprocket to far past the crank space where the pedals are at.

Are you in love with TD-One parts or would an upgrade to almost anything Shimano be a possibility? Look on eBay. A Pacific Bicycle or any bike sold by a department store isn't really what one would consider an upgrade-worthy project. A new bike better might be cheaper considering labor costs. Replacement of parts for failure might be worthwhile.

I am trying to fix a Huffy Blackwater bicycle (15 speed). The rear derailleur is missing. Can I use a 6 speed derailleur from a Next bike? Can I disable the indexing of the Huffy (Falcon) shifter? Thanks

You can use the 6 speed rear derailleur with no problems. The 5-spd shifter does not need to be disabled, as it will work just fine.

The shifter controls the rear derailleur, telling it how far to move. The rear derailluer just follows what is dictated, so there is no real difference mechanically between the 5spd and 6spd derailleurs, only in the shifter.

If you wanted to make the bike 6spd, you would have to change the shifter and gears along with the derailleur.

Chain specification Regina 136ORP

i wouldnt even bother with measurements,if you still have the chain on the bike, hold the chain with both hands about5 inches apart, twist your wrists left and right,if the chain links move more than about 1/8 inch over this distance..throw the chain away it is to worn to use,and has probably worn the teeth on the front and rear sprockets as well, most manufacturers recommend replacing both sprockets when fitting a new chain,as fitting a new chain on worn sprockets will accelerate chain wear

Removing a Falcon 5 speed model 180cassette

Your terminology is a bit off. The five speed gear cluster is called a freewheel, and you need a freewheel removal tool and benchvice to get it off, and yes it threads on to the hub. Refer to: Parktool.com
