Question about Philips FWM779 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

USB Problems Alright, my problem is that when I hook it up to my computer, I can hear the music, but it's extremely low in quality.. Anyone? I have all the software another thing is that the radio, game port, and aux all work. I know it's not the music on my computer because I have some of it on a CD that I tried and it's perfect quality. Thanks.

When I play something using the axillary hook-up the sound is low.

It sounds like the Pre-Amp for this socket has failed. They are often one IC that does all the work.

Poor sound quality in phonograph and radio. CDs won't play.

There are at least two problems, audio output problems, "ic" to the laser pickup assembly none functional. From the description you would be further ahead replacing the Audio Shelf System rather than spending money on repairing it.

Volume Problems

If the mute funcction is ON, it will effect for all inputs. Here the problem is not with the mute function. It must be with the system control section itself. You must have thorough knoledge in electronics to go further. OK.

Sound quality bad i can hear bass but really no treble or mids

Could be that those speaker components (mid-range spkr., tweeter) are blown. Try hooking up a similar type speaker and see what happens.

Can music be transferred to computer and then be burned to cd

(Yes) What do you mean by transferred to computer? A stream (music play like a radio) a Download (a file saved to your computer) to record a stream to a audio cd recorder is easy. You need a cable with a 3.5m plug one end and 2 RCA plugs on the other end (red and white plug) Use the plug that looks like a headphone plug, plug that into the computer headphone or speakers and the others into your stereo red into the red hole and white into the white hole choose (AUX) now play the music from your pc you should hear it playing out from your stereo. Your all set. (have fun)

A download: A music file is stored on your computer. When you choose to download a file always remember what folder it is in! for a mp3 file you can use windows media player to burn cd. (must have a CD or DVD Burner installed in your computer to do this) if not don't fret just see above it will also work on downloaded music.

Conection to my computer

I burn CD's on my laptop connected to a HM-33 through the earphone out plug. You have to change the computer's system input sound preference from "system" to "Audio in". Stereo sound quality is excellent.
