Creative Zen Sleek Photo can't download from computer

I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo that I keep all my music on, it’s about 2 years old. It is 20 GB with 8 GB of extra room left open on the Zen. My trouble is that it does not recognize it self when I plug it into my computer (Dell Inspiron E1705 with Windows XP) any more. My computer makes that little "ding" sound when I first plug it in, and that's as far as it gets. When I go to M.S. explore it shows up in the left hand main column, but when I double click on it, it says you need to plug in your device, when it is already plug in to the computer. When I first plug in the Zen to the computer, the Zen turns on, it shows that it is charging the battery correctly and goes into the docking mode, just like it should. On my computer I am using Windows Media Player (WMP) to store all of my music, WMP use to show that I was plugged in to my Zen so I could download back in forth between the two, now my WMP doesn't even see my Zen at all. I have reloaded all the Zen's software into the computer, but still no luck. Something else, my girl friend has a Zen also but with only 7 or 8 GB, hooking hers up to my computer with her own wiring between the computer and the Zen. I am in the same boat, the WMP does not see hers also. So whats up with my Zen's stuff? How come I can't communicate between my Zen and my computer?

Please Help Me:

OK Kevin, I hooked my Zen up to another computer in the house thru one of its ports. A small icon popped up in the lower right hand corner of the computer screen, calling out that it is a Zen Sleek Photo. But the icon was a "add new hardware" icon, it did not show up under "my computer" or in M.S. explore. There is no software on that computer for the Zen. The "chipset" that you sent me takes me to "Server Solutions Insider", what goes on there? I have allready unloaded and reloaded any and all sofware for my Zen on my Dell Inspiron computer (the main one we are working with) with nothing happening. This software should have any drivers needed for the Zen on that CD that came with it. As far as trying different ports to plug my Zen to the computer, I have tryed them all, it makes that "ding" sound when you plug it in. But it is the same resalts as before. Something else, whenever the Zen gets turned on it has to rebuild its library, at lest most of the time, it shouldent have to do that. What's next?

You can go to Devie manager , Right click Mycomputer>Properties>hardware>Devie manager and look under USB device and look for anything that says Unknown device and right click on it and select update driver just select the Automatic and let it finish installing the driver for that device...

My creative software for Zen Sleek Photo won't load on Vista

Vista by default will support the Zen Sleek Photo as an MTP device, which means that Windows Media Player will recognize it as well as Explorer.

You can use WMP to sync music to it, and Explorer to drag/drop photos to it.

HELP! Zen Creative Sleek Photo 20 gb

What you have to do is flash the firmware. And this is another huge problem. If you have WMP 11 you have to downgrade/uninstall it from you computer or use a computer that doesn't have it on.
Next connect your MP3 player after you have:
1. cleaned it
2. formated it
(you get to the recovery menu by holding play/pause sign and inserting a paper clip into the reset orifice.
Once it is recognized a menu will pop up asking you if you want to do various things, one of them is to sync or add files to your player using WMP 9 or 10, depending on the machine you have. CLICK that option.
Next you have to run the firmware application provided on the Creative website and that will flash your player with the firmware. It should work fine afterwards.

Make a backup of of the files if you care about them before you start this adventure.

Getting out of recovery mode

The recovery tool mentioned above is not designed for the sleek photo. You need to download the firmware for the sleek photo from creative's site. Now we need to get your player recognized to get the firmware loaded. If you have Windows Media Player 11, it needs to be removed. Also remove WMP runtime. After that, restart the pc and your player should be recognized. You can then double click on the firmware program to run it. It might say something like, this firmaware is already you want to reload it? Click yes to reload.

I had the same problem with my sleek photo. Once I got rid of WMP and the runtime everything worked like a charm.

Creative Zen Sleek Photo 20 GB

Did you try uninstalling WMP11 from your computer , then reinstalloing the Creative software? The two programs are not compatible if WMP11 was there first. Once you hae the computer recognizing the player, you can put WMP11 back without messing it up.

Computer stopped recognizing USB cord from Zen sleek photo

The first problem is probably a software incompatibility between Creative's software and Windows Media Player version 11. The second problem is possibly a need to replace the battery. 3rd party batteries are about 20 dollars now.

Creative zen sleek photo not recognized by win xp

I got my Creative Zen Sleek Photo from a friend and everything I did wouldn't let Windows recognize it, but then I got it to work almost magically.

1. Make sure you have the proper drivers installed for it that come with the CD. If you don't have the CD, you can download the ISO here.

2. Reboot. When it comes back up, plug the cable into your computer, then into your Sleek. The software should sync up. For some reason, my Zen wasn't being recognized from the usb port on my computer tower, but I plugged it into my monitor's USB port and then it worked. Try that, if none of that works, then it may be a problem with your computer not knowing which driver to assign to your Zen, and if so, try the steps below.

1. Plug your Sleek to your computer.
2. Open up Windows' Device manager (right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Go to the "Hardware" tab, then click "Device Manager").
3. Locate the entry for "Creative Zen Sleek" in your device list. It should appear either under "Sound, video, and game controllers" or under "USB Devices". Once you locate the entry, uninstall it.
4. Unplug your Sleek and wait a few seconds.
5. Plug your Sleek back in and allow the "new Hardware Wizard" to identify and install the drivers for it.
