-   I got this laptop when a family member passed away and I am not very computer savvy. Can someone please help me to remove the power on password for my Compaq ARAMADA E500, please???-   Chele7281

-   To troubleshoot the issue, please remove the RTC battery and perform a dry boot. Once the dry boot is performed, reseat the RTC battery.
Steps for performing the dry boot is given below:
1. Ensure you bring the unit to minimum configuration.
2. Disable all the external devices including the battery and the AC adapter.
3. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
4. Now boot the notebook with AC power only.
After performing a dry boot, please reseat the Real Time Clock (RTC) Battery. To perform the same, please refer to the steps in the below link:

Perform the above steps and check for the occurrence of the issue.

-   cannot bypass password on e500. Cannot use it, locked up. We do not know the password.-   Guest
