SOURCE: jacuzzi pump not pumping
I would probably say that the pump is clogged up or frozen. The motor humms until the heat sensor clicks it off. Try taking apart the front of pump and see if it turns and you should see the problem. Parts are available at most pool stores. Pumps are usually cheaper online.

SOURCE: air in my jacuzzi pool pump
It sounds like air is entering the system through the clear dome (filter access) on the pump. Check the o-ring directly underneath the clear plastic dome. CAUTION: Be sure to isolate the pool from the pump via in-line shutoffs prior to loosening the dome lid. Sometime cleaning the o-ring and coating it with petroleum jelly helps the unit seal better.

you probably have a check valve (back flow preventer) on the line that supplies water to the spa when the pool is filtering as normal. Your check valve may have some debris in it or the seal inside may have failed allowing the water to drain into the pool when the system is off. You should see a valve on the return line that splits off from the pool return line on your system. There are several different check valves on the market, some have a clear lid that you can inspect without taking it apart. Some of them cannot be taken apart. Your challenge will be to find the check valve, then try to check to see it debris may be holding it partly open or it the rubber seal inside is damaged or missing. I hope this helps.

Get replacement ports of the proper size from your pool supply house. Dont use adapters as this constitutes a restriction and will lead to troubles. If you cannot find the correct diameter - I suggest you add a second suction and a second discharge of the size you can get and pipe them together outside the pool ... put the two suctions/dischargees on a pipe that will fit your new pump.
