Hello, please go to apple.com
Download iTunes and install on your computer.
Once it's installed, connect your ipod to the usb cord and you will see it come up in the iTunes screen.
you can create a playlist and sync it or you can drag and drop songs to the music folder by checking the "Manage Music Manually" box.
Download you music to your computer, open the folder over the iTunes window and drag n drop the songs into the music folder or the first column of the white area in the big window.
when you drag a song or group of songs, hold over the first column of the white area till you see a blue outline and drop..music will load automatically.
If this helps you please leave a vote

Ipod 4G nano shows 0 songs when disconnected, but shows all data when connected t iTunes. Please help.

If you have all the music from the Ipod on your computer, I recommend you do a factory reset of the Nano. You could have a corrupted audio file that is messing everything up or your hard drive could be failing.

NO FILES

your ipod won;t play videos.
but to put files on it, mount it to itunes and when the iPod mounts you will see the picture of the nano.
in that window click on manage music manually.
now click on the music folder and it will open.
in windows explorer open the file folder containing your music files.
click on a song and drag n drop it into the left most column of the music listing window in itunes.
it will load into you ipod.
One thing you will have to remember, Ipods will not load incompatable music or other files.
make sure your music is compatable.

IPod nano 4G that iTunes no likey

reformat your ipod, if you installed itunes via disc or from file, you should have the option in itunes to restore your ipod to factory settings. If you have songs on your ipod that arnt on your computer, you will need to copy them off the ipod before you restore your ipod.
To copy music off an ipod that is YOURS (in XP) go to my computer>click on your ipod> then go to tools>folder options>View TAB>and click on the option "show hidden files and folders". Then there should be a folder somwhere in your ipod (depending on what ipod you have) that says music. Copy that folder to the desktop and filter through all of the folders inside it for your music.
