Well first of all you can tell us the Brand and the Model number of your TV? and tell how old is your TV? Anyway you can try to reset your TV first unplug (switch off) your TV for 24 hours and then turn it again........... let us know if further you have the same problem.......
I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.
Sounds like something may be shorted out inside keeping the power supply loaded enough it wont start, dont recommend trying to fix unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing, there are some high voltages inside, I wold Call a TV tech out to repair, Just FYI, these sets from Phillips/MAG usually have CRT fluid getting cloudy causing discoloration/fog to pix around this age and older, between both repairs, some sets start around $1000, just an idea.
Are you getting any response when it 'doesn't turn on' like can you hear the fans spooling or anything? I would begin with verifying all the grounds are properly secure especially the lamp switch cable this can become loose possibly causing there not to be a good ground I've seen it happen on vivitek TV's Verify the TV is OFF and unplugged before you touch anything check the grounds and verify what you can see is properly set. If everything looks ok, check to see if theres a lot of dust in the fans and so fourth, and if not that then replace the power supply.
