Question about Karcher 2500 PSI Pressure Washer

Electric Pressure Washer

I have a minimally used pressure washer rated at 1750 psi and electric.
AFter  plugging in the supply hose and power, I turn the unit on and it starts for a second to pressurize the system (as it usually does), but then when I press the nozzle, nothing happens; the motor doesn't start.  So if I unplug the water supply and power and let it sit for a few minutes, then do it all over again...the same issue happens...it starts for a second to pressurize the system then stops.  The unit is clean and no rust.  I'm not sure what component makes the unit trip off line.  Help!

Hi Your problem is your unloader pressure valve switch. It is a cylinder that moves up & down inside a housing,. activaded by water pressure.Inside the cavity of the housing is dirt on the wall of it.Thats your problem.Once you clean the cylinder wall & apply some water grease ,problem gone.Your problem is not the switch.

Try running the machine without the hose attached if the machine runs ok then it is probable the there is a blockage in the nozzle if the the machine still cuts out then the pressure switch will probably be stuck or faulty this switch will be inline with the on/off switch and the motor it can be checked using a multi meter after dissconecting the power.

Pressuer washer not turning on

Inside machine are safety switches, you probably have a stuck on. Take apart, plug in and test with a tester to see where power is not getting to. I am guessing a safety switch is stuck.

Problem with pressure washer line seems to be cracked the line that has the gun and puts the water out has a crack how do I get a new one?

Lowe's and Home Depot keep a supply of hoses. Take the old one with you, and match it up. Or, you can take your make and model number and order one on-line.

Electric or Gas?

Pressure washers are either electric or gasoline powered. Electric pressure washers are low maintenance and quiet. These generally are for light duty. They are handy where you need to work on small confined area, however you need to run power to them and have a pressurized water source. Also the National Electrical Code and Underwriters Laboratories now require ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) be use when operating an electric pressure washer. Gas models are recommended for tasks that require more power, such as paint prep, heavy vehicle cleaning, or cleaning heavily soiled concrete.. Gas models start with PSI of 1750 and go as high as 4000. They also offer more portability, as they are not limited by electric cords. Also some gas models can draw water from a source other than the garden hose, which allows you to work away from a water line. All gas models have 4-cycle engines and run on regular unleaded gas.
