How do I connect my printer to my laptop if I haven't got the installation cd?

Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your laptop. The software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you still haven't installed the software on your computer and you don't have the installation disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one.
If you were able to scan documents before using your Lexmark printer, it could be just a slight communication issue. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

To install the printer you have to connect it to the PC/ laptop and install the drivers for the operating system you have on your PC. If you have the drivers CD, you can use it to install the drivers. Insert the CD in to the CD ROM Drive and follow the on-screen instructions. If you don't have the disk, you may download the driver from the official Ricoh support site.

From the above link you can download/ install the required drivers . Download all the files listed under the version of the operating system you have on your PC. Run/ Install them one by one. These files include printer drivers, scanner drivers, usb drivers etc.

You don't necessarily need your printer connected to your PC to install the driver. The driver installation is so that your PC can communicate with the specified printer. If you have the install CD you can install the driver and software. Now Depending on your printing machine, some installation CD's will ask you to please connect your Printer. If this is the case, there really is no way around that because the installation directions wont let you proceed to the next step without doing that.
Each printer and its installation software have different protocols. Some will let you install without the printer being connected, some wont.

Don't connect your USB cable just yet. First, install the driver from your setup CD or download and install the drivers for your operating system from: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_inkjet_printers/pixma_ip2702

Then when the driver setup prompts you, connect the USB cable. Setup should take care of the rest.

You connect the printer like that:

1.need cd driver
2.connect the usb cable from printer to the computer
3.install the driver from the cd
4.go to printer and faxes
5. click rigth from the printer and put on default
6.the printer is install


NOTE if you don;t have the driver printer you find free driver on www.canon.com
