My Hoover carpet cleaner will not spray out the handle for furniture can you tell why

You didn't give a model number so I'll tell you both methods. The F5xxx and F6xxx models have a cap at the top of the clean water tank that doubles as a measuring cup. The cap is about 3 inches in diameter. Fill the cap to the fill line with shampoo and dump it in the tank. Then fill the tank with hot (Not Boiling) water.
The F7xxx series has a 2 section tank. The large section is for hot (Not Boiling) water. The smaller section is for shampoo. Fill the smaller section with shampoo and the Steam Vac will mix the water and shampoo for you in the proper proportion.

That vacuum is fine on liquid extraction but often gets clogged by debris when it hits a solid. It would be better to do the clean with the steamvac then follow it with a wet/dry shop vac to be sure you got all the water. I say this because the vac built into that hoover is way too easy to clog.

Fill the tank and determine if the plastic is leaking, or if the valves are leaking. if the tank is cracked, it would need replaced. There is an improved design now available.

You may cycle the valves on the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil.

Make sure that the recovery tank is completely close.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The best way to locate a clean water tank is to 1st try your local vac dealer in your area for a new or a good used one that would work for you, or to contact the Hoover Factory and they can ship you out a new one or they can refer you to someone who can ship you one. There are screws on the bottom to remove, then near the back on each side, the is a catch to release. Before you turn it over, there is a screw where the water intake is near the top to remove.
