Frost on the low side line means the system is overcharged (too much freon).  Look on the tag insided the fridge and it will tell you how much freon it holds.  Usually 4.25-5.50 ounces on average.  The loud noise sounds like you have air in the system.  I would evacuate, from the high side while running, and let it run empty for 5-10 minutes.  Then while running put the valve core back in the high side.  Then unplug the fridge and charge with proper amount of freon thru the high side.  Wait about 5-10 minutes and plug back in.  Normal low side pressure should be 0-3 psi.  This is a good indicator of the proper amount of freon in a good working system.

Ad50uss is not producing water. Fan and compressor is running . Coils are not getting cold, is refrigerant low? Or could it have a leak? How do u check for refrigerant leak and how do u add refrigerant and...

Compressors have 3 or 5 tubes coming out of the can. Probably 3 in this case. The largest is the suction and the smaller one is the hot gas line. The 3rd is crimped and brazed over. The suction line should be cool or cold (no frost or ice) and the small one should be hot. Be careful of fans. Also, that small line is normally hot enough to burn you. If they are the same temperature, its either low or out of refrigerant (Very common), the liquid line could be plugged (Rare), or the compressor is not pumping (also rare). From here on, you need a compound refrigeration gauge and a line tap. An amp probe would be nice but not needed at this point. If you have an amp probe and the compressor is running and not pumping, the amps will be lower than the name plate RLA or FLA by quite a bit. The name plate should tell you what type of refrigerant it takes. 134A is the new standard but it could be different (R12). Knowing the right type is a must. I have seen compound gauges, line taps, and R134A in hardware stores but you can't add any refrgerant on less your sure no air has gotten in. If the pressure in the suction line matches up close to the ambient temperature when the compressor is off, it has refrigerant. With the gauge on the suction line, start the compressor. If the gauge drops into a vacuum of 25 inches or more, the compressor is probably OK but the refrigerant is gone. If the leak is on the suction side, there will be air in the system. The moisture in the air will freeze immediately at the metering device and it wont get cold. If it all leaked out its another whole process to find and repair the leak, evacuate the system and weigh in the proper charge. I hope this helps. There is a whole process for all of this. Let me know if you have the equipment. I'll get you through.

Model # PSC25PSTBSS low pressure tubing icing up on compressor ref @ 42F has A valve on the high side for cap tubes

Very unusual for a household fridge, but ice build up on the lp side(suction) normally indicates to much charge (gas) in system or if compressor starts to become less efficient, valves dont seat 100% which causes a liquid build up on the line. If the evaporator fan motor stops, this can also create that problem.(assuming the fridge wasnt cooling properly). Many occasions when a new compressor is installed, the technician might put a little to much charge in by mistake. Normally a machine puts in an exact amount that has been dialed in.

If your talking about the suction line at the compressor , then you have a cap tube separation . Have not seen this on GE . Compressor is probably bad due to liquid being sucked into it from the low side . If you have had refrigerant put in recently , by a wanna be repairman , then too much has been added , probably unnecessarily ( always is ) .

Turning a refrigerator on its side

Good day,
Not wise, but if it's already done, then make sure it's righted and left off for minimum of 12 hours.
What happens is the oil in the compressor has run out of it's sump, and up into the coils in the machine.
Drainage time back to the compressor is very slow.
It's like leaving a car on it's side, for an extended period of time. Not good.
If issues show up, I wouldn't bring it up if you need to call for a warranty repair.

Thank you for using FixYa

Amana model SXD25QA3W. Not cooling. Compressor runs.

Low on refrigerant which is R 12. EPA has stopped the manufacture of it and it is priced out of sight.
You have a leak and will need it fixed. Compressor is about $300-400 list. You don't want to go there.
Good luck but likely 15-17 years old....... New one ???
