Question about Panasonic DMR-ES30VS DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

DVD door will not open

I have changed 2 capacitors (C1209 & C1204) to 50v types which cured the initial problem of the power cutting off after a few minutes.
In removing the DVD drive to access the capacitors I damaged the 40 way ribbon cable connecting the drive to the mother board. I made an attempt to repair the ribbon cable but still the DVD door will not open.
Is there any other fault which could cause this problem ?

My microwave has stop heating up food. What is the cause?

There are several things that can cause this:
1. Bad high power diode failure (most common and usually causes a loud humming sound when it fails initially then never heats again)
2. Bad capacitor (open or shorted)
3. Stuck Magnetron oscillator (Makes a loud humming sound when the Diode and capacitor are known to be good.) / Magnetorn failure
4. Door interlock safety switch failure. (You should hear 3 clicks on most microwaves as the door just opens or closes... if your microwave light does not come on when the door is opened you only have 2 micro-switches and only hear 2 switch clicks.
5, Main control board relay failure / main board failure.

Those are the most common reasons listed in order of usual failures. Each one of the above possible failures has a different troubleshooting procedure.

Hi i got a dell e177 lcd. Initially the problem was the power bulb did not light up. Reading here and there i found out its a capacitor fault. I opened it up. The board is...

While your inside of the LCD's it would not hurt to fix the other capacitors. Normally when a capacitor goes out, the same resistors on the same chip group need to be changed as well. If they are not changed, it may cause the same capacitors to go out after a few hours of use. Ensure to check your display cable connection and yes, please connect it to a pc. You may get a blank, light blue, or other light display but not really enough to determine if the problem has been completely fixed.

Lights on panel blinking. ice dispenser keeps opening and closing

there is the HV board on the back under a cover . 2 680uf capacitors @ 35v are likely domed instead of flat on the top and are likely hot. replacing these with an equal value will cure the problem. they are in parallel so 1000 and 470uf will cure it. mine was same model except white. local dealer said no warranty. did not call maytag but he indicated it might help. good luck

Numerous probs: 1)door won't open/close (if it does open);2)can hear (intermitently) mechanisms working when equipment is off; 3)will not detect DVD

I would suspect a weak power supply. If the power supply is not giving proper voltage, or even able to maintain proper amperage, then numerous problems will occur. One of my Ilos would take forever to come out of the "Hello" screen or open the door to load, or once you got a disk in it it would not recognize the disk. You could hear this grinding noise coming from it. Any of this sound familiar? On mine the two large capacitors on the power supply board were bad. If they are swollen then change them out. Radio Shack had them when I did mine, but most electronic supply store should carry them

Music cutting out

Hello santiclause0,

If your amp is the Kenwood KAC-8103D, it is rated at 500 watts RMS into a 2 ohm load. Your vehicle electrical system should be able to provide plently of current even without a capacitor. But over time wires corrode, the alternator doesn't work as well as when new, and even the battery itself doesn't put out as much.

What I'd recommend is a "start from scratch" approach and find out why the amp cuts out when something else on the vehicle suddenly demands current. First of all, make sure that the amp wiring is adequate and all the connectors are tight. The recommended power and ground wire size for the amp is 8AWG. Make sure that the ground is within 3 feet of the amp and that it connects DIRECTLY to bare metal. Make sure that none of the wiring has any breaks in the insulation and that none are making contact with the vehicle body or other wires. Finally, check that you are not asking the amp to produce more power than it was designed to deliver. The minimum load impedance should be no lower than 2 ohms.

If everything on the amp is OK, then your vehicle simply cannot deliver enough current. There's several cures for that. The first would be to do the "Big Three" upgrade. Just Google "big three upgrade" and the very first result will be the install bay forum. There is a step-by-step procedure and a complete materials listing. And most of the time, upgrading the "big three" will cure low current audio problems. Changing out the battery to one with a higher amphour rating and/or installing an alternator with more output capability are also possible cures.

Hope this helps.

Dmr-es30v combi-vcr/dvd

Due to a design error there are 2 defective capacitors in this unit :

C1209 680µF 10volt 105°C - always fails being primarily responsible for unit's failure.
C1204 1500µF 16volt 105°C - also known to fail with great frequency.
If you have some basic electronic experience (or know someone who has). Replace capacitors C1209 and C1204 with new ones rated at 35 or 50 volts. You can get these from RS Components for around £3.00 (C1209 is hidden from view as it's located underneath the DVD drive mounting bracket. For this reason, the DVD drive must first be removed before it can be replaced). The unit should be unplugged until you can repair it. There is no alternative way round the problem, but once repaired it will work perfectly.
