Pearson, Im Sure You Installed a Burning Program(Nero)
This Usually Happens Because of Burner Programs
Just Click On The Win ORB Or Commonly Known as Start
Then Run-
regedit.exe If You are Unable To Read Whats Down Go to Its All There

1. Click StartStart button, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.

User Account Control permission If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
5. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
Note After you remove the UpperFilters registry entry and the LowerFilters registry entry, you may lose functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. In this scenario, you must reinstall any affected programs. If the problem recurs, contact the program vendor to determine whether an update is available for the program.

My computer has suddenly stopped detecting the Samsung CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive. It does not display E: drive in the Windows explorer. I am not able to play any kind of discs.

Right–click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager. make sure there are no yellow or red boxes in the left. if it is rede or yellow, right click and update drivers. If this doesn't work, turn your computer off then unplug. Open the case and re-seat the cables. Plug system in, and turn on. If you can't see the drive still under my computer you will need a new drive.

Burns at a very slow speed no matter what i set it to. cds or dvd same problem. samsung sh-s182

Okay, first, are you using an older 40 pin ide cable? If so, get an 80 pin. Also check that the drive is jumpered properly. Cable select is for squids...set it right. If the drive is connected to the end of the ide cable, set it as a master. If it is connected to the middle connector, set it as a slave. Also, check the properties of your hard drive controllers (not the drives themselves) in device manager. If the advanced properties show any controller as being in PIO mode, set it to dma, and reboot. If you are unable to get it out of pio mode, run the script here:

If this doesn't help, get back to me and I'll try to help more :)

TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182D....its not cant read any cd or dvd.wht should i do?it seems like something missing, maybe the software/hardware.

It is too late to find out the issue and return SH-S182D drive.
SH-S182D drive has compatibility issue, none of firmware (including the latest) is "perfect" so far.
I couldn't do anything but wait for Samsung to release new firmware to fix their drive.

Same **** with my Samsung SH-S182M. In a nutshell, it burns DVD's then can't read them while my old, cheap DVD reader can. Once in a while it manages to read one making me think I've fixed the problem.

All i can say to you is buy a new one my friend.

If i am helpful to you, please rate me.
Thank you.

make sure you have reinstalled all drivers for all of your drives and what not. If you have, are there any notifications in Device Manager? To get there, right click on My Computer, then click Properties. Click the Hardware tab, then Device Manager. Hope this helps, or let me know what you find in Device Manager.
