Items In Device Manager Not Recognized By XP

Hi I am hoping that someone here can help me out with problems I have with my new graphics card, I am not sure if it is a software problem or a hardware one. The computer I have was made up by a friend three years ago and I just felt it was time to upgrade my graphics card! So I got the HIS HD 4670 IceQ 1GB (128bit) 850 MHz DDR3 PCIe a few days ago and loaded it yesterday with the updates that I could find on the internet. However this morning when I started my computer I got to my desktop and while it was loading the computer rebooted itself and has been working ok since. But I got a error warning when I returned to windows and it told me to update my drivers and hardware! I also noticed that in the hardware profiles I have the following with question marks on them; ? ! PCI Memory Controller ? ! SM Bus Controller ! Unknown Device (Sound, video and game controllers) So would these three items be causing my problems or something else? Plus does anyone know how I can resolve these issues? Just in case you need to know what I have in my computer, here is what I think you might need to know; Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Super Mini Tower (With The SmartPower 2.0 450W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply) 1 Rear 120mm Tri Cool Fan AMD 64 Athlon 3200+ 3 GB of Ram 250GB Hard Drive 500 GB External Drive Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 3) And if you need any more information, please let me know can I can supply it. I appreciate anyone?s help with these problems. Thanks Mark

    Hi

I have ran the CD and it said on it Nvidia Chipset Driver Program plus other things I could run, so do I run Nvidia Chipset Driver Program? If so will that have affect the drivers for my graphics card and will I have to reinstall them?

Can I update the Chipset Drivers if so where do I go to find them?

    I appreciate your help Thanks

    Mark

    Hi

Loaded the chipset from the disc - NVIDIA nForce 4 Ultra, I checked my Device Manager and the qustion marks on the PCI Memory Controller
and SM Bus Controller are gone, all that seems to be left to sort out is the unknown device (Sound, video and game controllers) and thanks a million for your help with this!

    Thanks

    Mark

SOURCE: EA Game ''Spore'' - Videocard & Driver Issue

Well, I can solve it but it is somewhat bad news. Basically your video card is not powerful enough. Here are the ATI specs from the EA website;

  • ATI Radeon™ series
  • 9500, 9600, 9800
  • X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
  • X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
  • 2400, 2600, 2900
  • 3450, 3650, 3850, 3870,
  • 4850

    and here are NVIDIA
  • NVIDIA GeForce series
  • FX 5900, FX 5950
  • 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800,
  • 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
  • 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
  • 9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280
I would recommend buying a new video card. You can pick up a NVIDIA 8400 thru 8600 for about $30 or $40 from Frys.com or newegg.com sometimes cheaper with rebate.

They are fairly easy to install.

    Good Luck.

SOURCE: monitor screen freeze with driver...

hi! you don't need to update the driver cause the problem is in your hardware. Graphic seems to be a bit grounded, try cleaning the contact pins of your AGP graphic card with eraser, clean it side by side and then put it back again to an AGP slot, then boot your CPU again. If it still the same, try it in another motherboard that support you graphic card just to be sure before we conclude that its the graphic card has the problem. Anyway if it still under warranty you can claim for a replacement to the store where you bought the graphic card.  Have a nice day!

SOURCE: Computer restarts on game start

Remove all traces of ATI drivers from add/remove programs and reboot before trying to install the newest Catalyst Control Center. The latest - 9.4 - does NOT have your card listed (they list the PCIe version, not AGP).

Recently ATI removed support for many of their "legacy" cards. 9.3 may be of more use to you.

SOURCE: problem running video with ATI x1300 video card

that is an old budget graphics card not meant for gaming. An Ati 3650 or Nvidia 8600gt or better would suffice for gaming. The minimum specs for games show what is needed just to play the game at the lowest detail and resolution. UPGRADE!

My computer using windows 7 cant detect my new video card, (evga geforce 9500 gt, when i turn on my computer i tried connecting vga with the dvi adaptor to my graphics card but that doesnt work, i saw...

    Hi drago,

You can find your drivers here:

    http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/
Download the drivers you need, and install them manually in the Device Manager.

In Windows 7, goto the Device Manager (click on Start, right click on My Computer, left click on Properties, click on Device Manager) Look for your video cards, click on the + to see which ones are installed.

Once you have the new drivers installed, you may have to uninstall the integrated graphics drivers to force Window to use the new card.

    Hope that helps

ATi X2300/ AMD 690/ Win XP driver problem

Have you tried letting Windows do it for you? In the system option in the control panel, in the hardware tab, click device manager, then on display adapters right-click and select "Scan for hardware changes." Your card should certainly be recognized.

Video Card not recognized on PCV-RS410

Hi, have you check the status of the video card in the window device manager.
    1. Right clicking My Computer icon on your desktop
    2. Select Manage option from menu
    3. Select Device Manager
Please verify if there is any yellow color exclamation appears on the left side of your new video card adaptor. If so you need to install a driver. I am assuming your pc is running window xp and video card adaptor is window xp compatible.
    Hope this help.

    Usb is not getting recognized.

Try refreshing the USB's. First, remove all USB's from your sytem (unplug them).

Click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM. Click on HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER. Expand the heading UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS. Delete all the usb items. In that same window, go to the very top level (computer name-In the picture, my computer is called LUCY), right click, and click SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES. Once done, try connecting your USB devices.

    Graphic card

i think that when you installed xp the windows generic nvidia driver has installed and is now not looking for any more upto date software, you will have to go to device manager in control panel and go to hardware tab, then devices and then go down to the graphics controller/adadpter line, right click and select uninstal. Restart the pc, but this time when the driver tries to install make sure that you select manual and not automatic then point the pc in the direction of the folder where you have the graphics driver residing on your c drive.
