Flame height on my 36 " 6 burner Viking Range Top

What height should the flames on my rangetop be? They seem to be small, barely coming up to the bottom of the burner cap. The unit is older but we just installed it...The regulator had the LP side up and I switched it to NG...I checked all of the the orifices they are all a #50, which seeems to be the correct size based on the parts list online. All of the burners produce the same size flame, so I've been told that it is not the regulator...??? I spoke with my plumber who added the new gas line for the unit and he said there is plenty of gas coming to the unit. According to specs these burners should put out 15000 BTU and they will get hot, but the flame height and speed does not seem to be correct. Any thoughts?

Thanks, but I had already adjusted those screws as per the owner's manual. They fine tune the adjustment at the low/simmer level, but have not effect on the flame height on high. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Sounds like your range is set up for the wrong kind of gas, or, in the case of LP, your installer failed to make the necessary adjustments once it was hooked up. First step is to insure that you have the proper range for type of gas you are using. If not, the orifices for all surface and oven burners will have to be changed out. That should be done by a qualified service technician.

Control knob doesnt adjust flame height?

Use a manometer to insure lp gas pressure is correct. The regulator for the stove may need adjusting. The air mixture adjustment may not be correct for PL as well.

Bluestar rangetop clicks several times before igniting

Do other appliances in your home using LP gas work properly? If so, then this is probably an air/fuel mix problem on the burner(s). If this is a new rangetop there should be directions with the range and the LP conversion kit to instruct on proper adjustments. Be certain the correct LP orifice was installed for each burner (they likely have different BTU ratings for different sized burners) and the ignitor post is clean and spaced properly to burner. Then adjust the air mix to achieve a blue flame with just a tip of yellow. Delayed ignition usually results from the wrong air/gas mixture which doesn't ignite until too much fuel has accumulated. In many locations the company you purchase LP gas from will have someone who can check and adjust this. If the range was shipped from the factory as LP gas ready, then you can also contact your dealer and request assistance.

Viking Burners keep on clicking! Anoying!

The causes to the clicking is that the ignitors could be wet, dirty (with grease caked on them or cleaning products or a bad spark module). The ignitors are the little white things on the side of each burner with a metal piece on top. If they are wet (let them dry out for 20 - 30 min on a high flame, if dirty sand the metal piece on top with sand paper or nail file. And if it is the spark module and u are technical, order one from the parts department for Viking. You will need ur model and serial # then find out if it is located under the burners or the rear of the range. There are several wires going to the spark module. Best way is to disconnect one by one and connecting it to the new box until all wires are switched from old to new module. Remember to unplug the unit before doing this because you may get shocked. Also if it is a sealed burner system that means that the burner bowls cannot be lifted from the range and water cannot seap under the burners then you could just change all 4 or six burner bases. Viking has adapted them throughout the many complaints and they are better now. Typical cost is: $350 - $400 if spark module is under burners, in rear = $500 - $600. Burner bases = 400 - 600 depending on number of burners and if it is with a venturi or screws. Good luck.
