If it went dead several seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

You may find that this part is uneconomical to replace.

Here is a link you or someone you know can use to test it, but please read the safety info:

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Inspect foil side of HV board for burned tracks toward lower side of board. If burned, check HV capacitors (High Voltage Capacitor Test Procedure) and HV transformers (High Voltage Transformer Test) for a short. Otherwise test other components as outlined above.
Solution: Replace defective components as necessary. If applicable, repair foil trace on HV board.
Hope that helps.........

Fridigaire microwave does not turn on

Your aren't giving me much to work with but I have fixed a bizillion microwaves and in most cases they blow the fuse (probably 18 amps) and it is because the HV diode shorted. So both would need to be replaced. Not a big expense. I would think about $50 from a reputable company. There are some exceptions of course. If the unit is very old it could have a bad magnetron in which case it is not worth repairing. The unit may only need a fuse. Everytime you hit go the microwave makes a very hard demand on power and over time the fuses can blow. Let's hope for the best a new fuse. Let me know how this works out.

Microhood blowing house fuse

normally it should blow the units internal fuse first if its an internal issue, first check the line cord thoroughly for any bare wires at the case , then remove outer case asn see if cord is bare anywhere inside, then inspect unit fuse, take a multimeter and take a resistance check in an upper range og the meter of the disconnected h.v. diode, then disconnect h.v. capacitor(DISCHARGE) across terminals before touching and check this part, then lastly it could be the magnetron tube, or the hi voltage transformer, therse are VERY expensive items, you may vie to replace microwave then

The magentron or high voltage capacitor is drawing too much current as it gets hotter. Substitute the cap first , it is cheaper solution.

Fuse keeps blowing.

It appears like the high voltage capacitor is shorted or the diode connected to the capacitor. You might want to check the monitoring switch as well if the capacitor and diode are good.

Microwave does not turn on

There are about as many causes of this as there are parts in the set. To Start with, Check that the microwave is not plugged into a GFCI wall socket.. If it is, make sure the socket has not been tripped. If it has reset it. Make sure the set is unplugged for the rest of this. Follow the power cord in the unit to find the primary fuse. You'll need to test the fuse with a Continuity tester since this fuse usually a ceramic fuse and you can't just tell by looking at it. If that's good, the problem will most likely be a mini fuse on the controller board or a fuselink that's in side the small transformer on the controller board. If lightning is suspect, you can pull the board out and look at the circuit side to check to burned traces. Replace any MOVs that may be on the board otherwise any corrective work is just wasted. Back to the primary fuse... If the primary fuse is blown.... Chances are that you have a bad Diode in the Tube side of the circuit. Depending on the age of the unit... it maybe a HVR-1 diode. If their are no relays on the controller board, check for a bad Triac. It could be just time to junk it.

Unit shuts off (JVM1340WW002) and blows fuses

Generally speaking, if the high voltage capacitor is shorted, the fuse will blow as soon as you hit the START pad. When the HV cap fails, I've never seen one do anything but short. If it's a few seconds or so into cooking, it's usually the high-voltage transformer. There may or may not be a burning smell. The cooling fan often will dissipate the smell. What can happen to the transformer is an expansion of the windings to the point where a couple of hot spots eventually make bare spots which touch, then the short causes the fuse to blow. When it cools, they aren't shorting anymore. It's possible it's the mag or something else, but not too likely. You can (carefully!) disconnect the primary leads from the HV transformer then run the oven, making sure the wires are free and clear. If the fuse blows, the problem is in the low-voltage side. If it doesn't the trouble is in the HV side. If you broke a seal (tamper tag) or left any other evidence that you were inside the microwave, your warranty will be voided. Some parts may be covered, but the labor warranty usually expires sooner. Be careful.
