Mediatek inc I have a mediatek 7 tablet but when I switch it on it says Invalid IMEI. Someone told me to try a custom firmware/software. how do I do that as my android is not connected?

Rooting is like giving complete access (administrator) to the phone so that you can install/modify/fix/break anything you want. Root doesn't unlock your phone for other carriers. It gives you super user access aka SU. It will allow you to flash custom ROMs and themes. Some apps require root to work properly. here's an article about rooting. 2. Go to Applications
3. Go to Manage applications
4. Go to all tabs
5. Gp to "Market" applications
6. "Clear Cache" then "force stop" - DO NOT CLEAR DATA
7. Now go to "google service framework" applications
8. "Clear data" then "force stop"
9/ Reboot your machine/
