You don't have enough hot water coming into the didhwasher. The element is coming on to heat the water. Are you using the sanitizing cycle? Vitally

A repairman once told me that if I ran the hot water in my sink til it was hot, it would cut down on the time the machine took to "heat" the water and shorten the cycle a bit. It still takes a long time though.
