My Black & Decker B900SC bread machine doesn't mix properly

My Black & Decker B900SC bread machine doesn't mix the dough properly. Always a lot of dry flour and ingredients on top. Never manages to mix it into a ball like my old machine did.

I returned the first machine thinking it was a problem with the direction of the mixing paddle, but the first loaf in the new machine does the same thing!

Is it just a crappy design?

Have you tried adding a bit more water to your mix? It sounds as if your dough is too dry. Sometimes, no matter how exact you follow directions, you have to compensate for variables of the machine. I have a similar problem with some of my bread mixes if I do not add an extra tbsp or two of water.

That's exactly what you have to do - with a little bit of extra water as well as the handle (handle end) of a wodden spoon allow the dough to pick up the extra dray material ingrediants and voila all is well in the blending cycle. No need to revisit the process after this.

At what time can I remove the paddle before my B&D breadmaker bakes the loaf?

The Use and Care Manual for your Black & Decker B2250 All-In-One Automatic Breadmaker can be dowloaded in PDF from the following link:

Follow a recipe similar to that for Dinner Rolls on Page 19 where you would use the Dough Setting to allow the dough to be removed for shaping and baking in your regular oven.

The bread will rise in some spots but not the entire loaf. The loaf ends up lopsided. It's like it's not mixing properly.

Hi Darlene

I have the same machine and I wonder if your kneading parts are locked into place...i remember using it one time and the kneeding blades were not secured and the same thing happened.

Good luck..

Darlene S.

by the way...have you ever made the dough??..i attempted to make it tonight and it did not turn out..

Thanks

Keeading blades

I had the same problem. I find the loaves to be a much better size if I just use program setting 8 - Dough then put the dough in 2 regular bread pans or on cookie sheets (bagetts), let them have a second rising and finish them in the convection oven at 350 F for 21 minutes.

When you want to make only dough the dough senting does not work

The dough setting has a 20 minute delay before the paddles start to move. The manual say's "for most programs, there will be a 15-minute delay before mixing cycle begins"

Hi there,
I would suggest that you remove the paddles right after the machine has stopped mixing the dough. Hope this helps.
