Hi,
It could be a software problem as well. So, before you get the keyboard replaced, I would suggest you to try safe mode as well.
Testing the keyboard in safe mode will try to confirm that a program is not locking the keyboard and preventing it from working properly. To check the keyboard workability in safe mode, please perform the following steps:
1. Restart the computer.
2. Tap ‘F8’ on the keyboard during the startup process until you see the “Windows Advanced Options Menu” on the screen.
3. Note: If the “Windows Advanced Options Menu” does not appear, restart the system and try again.
4. Select “Safe mode” and press enter.
5. Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
6. Open a notepad to check the keyboard functionality and confirm the same (by pressing all the keys one by one).
If keyboard works fine in safe mode that would mean that it is a software problem in which case you would need to try system restore or operating system reinstallation.

Please do not forget to rate the solution.
Regards,
Musheer.

Usually it's a hardware problem. Easiest thing to do is order a replacement keyboard from eBay and just swap the old one for a new one.

In the meantime any usb keyboard will work.

Best of luck!

To type an underscore? Hold down the Shift key and tap the key between the 0 (zero) and the plus sign on your keyboard (not the keypad, the main keyboard).

Hi Demarquez,

To use the underscore key on your keyboard you will hold the <SHIFT> button, and press the keyboard key that is located beside the "0"(Zero) key.

Let me know if this helps.

Well i recently just got an Acer Asphire one and the letters arent working. instead of letters they are numbers. but they are in numeric order.

I do not fully understand you problem.
But, on the right side of you keyboard there are some letters that also act as numbers. There is a toggle key that ghanges the key action. Usually labled "NUM LOCK".
Hope this helps.

Spilled juice on my H P Pavilion laptop keyboard, keyboard is not working at all. Please help!

Do you have an HP Accidental Damage extended warranty? If you do, you can call HP's tech support and get it fixed/replaced.

If you don't have the extra warranty, you can try to carefully pop the keyboard keys off and carefully clean underneath as the contacts below the keys are possibly stuck in the down position.

You may have to take it to a service centre and have a technician open up the laptop and see if it can be cleaned and try to "unstuck" the keyboard keys.
