It means that either your computer or router is not getting a DNS address from your Internet provider. DNS is essentially the 411 service for the internet. You type in www.hotmail.com and your computer ask the router for the number, if it doesn't know it asks a computer at you internet provider and so on.

If the settin for the address for dns is missing either on your laptop or on your router it will not be able to find the address and like trying to make a phone call without a number you'll never get through.

Easiest solution is to call your internet providr and tell them that exact error message, then tell them you want to manually input their DNS server address(s) into your computer.

They will need to know what version of windows you're on then they can tell you where to go and what address to punch in.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. i keep getting this massage when i try to brows the net

When you type any name, e.g, 'www.google.com', your computer "talks" to a DNS (Domain Name Server), which translates the string 'www.google.com' into at leaset one IP-address:

Addresses: 74.125.155.103, 74.125.155.106, 74.125.155.147, 74.125.155.104, 74.125.155.99, 74.125.155.105
Aliases: www.google.com

If your computer does not have a working Internet connection, it cannot "talk" to the DNS-server.

If you spell the name incorrectly, the DNS-server will report "cannot give you an IP-address".

Contact your Internet Service Provider, to trouble-shoot your Internet connection.

Or, check for a computer-virus on your computer, which could be blocking your attempts to "talk" to the DNS server.

When I try to connect to the internet using a wireless connection, a screen comes up says "Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occurred. (80410402)." How do I fix this problem?

if it is saying DNS error it is not a problem with the PSP, most likely a setting with your wireless router. or a problem with teh internet at the time of trying. check wireless settings on the PSP and make sure it has a number listed for DNS server.

Linksy router

a DNS server stands for domain name service. The DNS server translatesnames from IP addresses. The internet sees IP addresses such as 209.235.250.53 but the DNS server provided by your ISP translates it for you into fixya.com. You should be able to aquire the DNS server information from your internet provider (ISP) hope this helps.

you are typing in an incorrect address, DNS stands for Domain Name Server, meaning the address you typed was not listed.

I cannot communicate with primary dns server 172.29.71.1 is there a way i can reset it automaticaly or manually

You cam try doing a power cycle. Turn off the modem, router (if you have one) and your computer. after 1 minute turn on modem first then router and computer. If you still can't communicate or ping the DNS it could be a firewall that is blocking it.

Cant get internet connection on my ps

first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.

try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following:
- explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address
- purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp
